Patents by Inventor Alan Langhorn

Alan Langhorn has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 7373782
Abstract: Methods of collecting, thawing, and extending the useful polarized life of frozen polarized gases include heating a portion of the flow path and/or directly liquefying the frozen gas during thawing. A polarized noble gas product with an extended polarized life product is also included. Associated apparatus such as an accumulator and heating jacket for collecting, storing, and transporting polarized noble gases include a secondary flow channel which provides heat to a portion of the collection path during accumulation and during thawing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 26, 2004
Date of Patent: May 20, 2008
    Assignee: Medi-Physics, Inc.
Inventors: Bastiaan Driehuys, David Zollinger, Daniel Deaton, Kenton C. Hasson, Alan Langhorn
  • Publication number: 20060279163
Abstract: The wear life of flexible copper fiber brushes when used at a positive pole in a direct current motor or generator is improved by the provision of an effective amount of zinc as a sacrificial anode material. Flame-sprayed zinc is applied as a coating to the exterior surface of such a copper fiber pack to bond the fibers with a surrounding metal wire reinforcing wrap, of cross wound copper wire or fine mesh, woven copper wire screen material, and create an improved brush.

    Applicant: General Atomics
    Inventors: Alan Langhorn, Zbigniew Piec
  • Publication number: 20050077795
Abstract: A homopolar machine which exhibits reduced wear and prolonged brush life. Current collectors or brushes are mounted so as to maintain substantially constant contact pressure and so that all of them are polarized negative. Brush holders are provided which facilitate the application of precise and constant contact pressure in a region of very high magnetic forces.
