  • Publication number: 20110136361
Abstract: A lamp system used in a light string system comprises a light assembly and a socket assembly. The light assembly comprises a light source, a base in communication with the light source, and a bypass activating system. The socket assembly comprises a socket adapted to receive the light assembly and a bypass mechanism having a first position and a second position. The bypass mechanism is in the first position when the light assembly is not seated in the socket assembly. When the bypass mechanism in the first position, current flows across the bypass mechanism. When the light assembly is inserted into the socket assembly, the bypass activating system of the light assembly moves the bypass mechanism into the second position, and current flows through the light source instead of the bypass mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20100170749
Abstract: A safety system for a swimming pool ladder is described for use in above-ground swimming pools. The safety system can comprise a frame covered with fabric or other enclosure permanently or temporarily affixed to the ladder and/or the sidewall of an above-ground swimming pool. The fabric can comprise a plurality of vent holes to prevent excessive side loads caused by water currents. The safety system can be detachably coupled to the ladder using a tab and slot configuration. The safety system can prevent objects from entering and becoming trapped between the pool sidewall and the pool ladder.

  • Patent number: 7110576
Abstract: A method and system for authenticating the sender of a mailpiece is described for identifying certain mailpieces as originating from known trusted senders. In one configuration, biometric information and/or biometric metadata is captured when a user writes on a mailpiece with a digital pen. That data is then compared to reference data in a database. Registrant data is then loaded into storage device on the mailpiece and may be digitally signed and/or encrypted by the trusted third party. In another configuration, a mailpiece includes the signature of a sender and the biometric data includes authentication data obtained from the signature that is compared to the biometric data related to the signature obtained during a sender registration process.

  • Publication number: 20060191544
Abstract: An nstrumented thoracic model for measuring the effects of impacts is provided. The model has simulated skeletal components, simulated tissue, simulated internal organs, and sensors that are optimally placed in the simulated tissue and organs, said simulated organs and said simulated skeletal components. Simulated human tissue is made of a modified ballistic gelatin, comprising ordinance gelatin, chilled water and an antimicrobial agent in a desired volume or weight percentage. The resulting mixture is then poured into a container or mold having the desired tissue shape, and then chilled until the mixture has set. Simulated lung tissue is made of the modified ballistic gelatin, but also incorporates nicrospheres to approximate the density and modality of the lungs.

  • Patent number: 7082444
Abstract: The present application describes systems and methods for identifying the version of a form using a digital pointing device. In one example, a form includes an RFID tap or barcode including a form version number. When a user is prepared to fill in the form, the digital pen checks a form database to determine if the form version is acceptable. If the form version is not acceptable, the digital pen indicates to the user that the form is not acceptable using an indicator.
