Abstract: A waste processing apparatus is disclosed which includes a waste processing vessel for holding waste and treatment fluid during processing, and a fluid delivery system for delivering a treatment fluid to the waste processing vessel. The fluid delivery system comprises a settling vessel located upstream of the waste processing vessel, the settling vessel defining an internal volume configured to retain a treatment fluid, a first fluid transfer means arranged and configured to transfer the treatment fluid from a fluid reservoir to the settling vessel; and a second fluid transfer means arranged and configured to deliver treatment fluid from the settling vessel to the waste processing vessel. The fluid delivery system is configured such that treatment fluid is retained in the settling vessel for a period of time prior to delivery to the waste processing vessel.

Abstract: A waste processing apparatus is disclosed, comprising a waste processing vessel for holding waste and treatment fluid during processing; and a blade arrangement provided in the waste processing vessel, for shredding the waste; the waste processing vessel comprising a waste processing zone, in which fluid can be retained, such that waste provided to the waste processing vessel can be shredded by the blade arrangement and immersed in treatment fluid in the waste processing zone. A related method of waste treatment is also disclosed, as is a use of a solution comprising a disinfectant and a diluent in the treatment of biohazardous waste, wherein the disinfectant comprises peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide.

Abstract: A validation method is disclosed, comprising the following steps: shredding waste using a blade arrangement in a waste processing vessel in which the waste is shredded and exposed to a waste treatment process during a waste processing cycle time; and exposing a process validation sample comprising a process efficacy indicator to the waste treatment process, to which the waste is exposed, during the waste processing cycle time; and analysing the effect of the waste treatment process on the process efficacy indicator to determine an efficacy of the waste processing and treatment process. An apparatus suitable for performing the method is also disclosed.
