Abstract: An indicator for a refrigerator filter which has a body configured to contain a replaceable filter cartridge and including an openable cap to enclose the filter cartridge within the body. The indicator includes a control having a filter life determination mechanism and arranged to emit a signal when a life of the filter cartridge is determined to be expired. A visual display is arranged in association with the body which comprises an illuminating component which illuminates upon receipt of the signal from the control, graphics positioned in association with the body, and a light pipe extending from the graphics towards the illuminating component to transmit light from the illuminating component to the graphics.

Abstract: A filter flushing adapter is provided for use with a filter device where the filter device has an opening forming an inlet and a second opening forming an outlet and with a filter medium positioned between the inlet and the outlet. The filter flushing adapter includes a body having a first open end leading to an interior passage of the body. A second open end leads to the interior passage. The second open end may have a connection fitting configured to receive the filter device and the first open end may have a connection fitting to receive an outlet of a kitchen faucet. An overflow outlet is positioned in the adapter between the first open end and the second open end communicating between the interior passage of the body and an exterior of the body and being aligned with the outlet of the filter device.

Abstract: A water dispenser is provided which includes a housing for the dispenser, a dispensing area associated with the housing and including a space for receiving a receptacle for receiving a charge of water from the dispenser, a water outlet through which water is dispensed into the dispensing area, and a fixed flange support positioned between the water outlet and the dispensing area arranged to receive a flavor insert device in a substantially horizontally sliding manner. The flavor insert device includes a cup having a flange extending around at least a portion of a periphery of the cup, a porous enclosure located in the cup, and a supply of solid flavor particles contained in the porous enclosure.

Abstract: In the treatment of water, an end piece is connected to a treatment cartridge housing and inserted into an appliance having bypass, inlet, and outlet valves. The end piece has an end piece wall from which an inlet fitting, outlet fitting, and protrusion extend. The inlet fittings, outlet fittings, protrusion, and cartridge housing each have a longitudinal axis. The inlet and outlet fittings have a cam surface for actuating the inlet and outlet valves, respectively. Further, the cam surfaces of the inlet and outlet fittings are angled and vectored in relation to their respective longitudinal axis. The protrusion is shaped for actuating the bypass valve.

Abstract: A device for placing seed into the soil at a specific pitch in which radiating spikes of two star wheel formed discs are brought together by rotating the discs synchronously at an angle and that each of the radiating spikes has on its inner side a hollow channel forming an internal closed funnel when the spikes are brought together and opens when by further rotating the spikes move away from each other. The means for placing seed or small objects into the funnels consists of a hub disposed about the axis of rotation of the disc and mounted to rotate with the discs which hub is provided with cells adapted to receive the seed or the other small objects and to release them upon rotation of the discs so they can fall under gravity into the funnel. The device is particularly suitable for the sowing of seed in soil covered by a thick crop residue.
