Patent number: 10181059Abstract: Methods, mediums and systems are provided to enable a user to build and edit a UML model for a system containing one or more physical component, which includes the across variable and/or the through variable of the components. A UML model may include classifiers, such as classes, interfaces, datatypes, signals, components, nodes, use cases and subsystems, that describes the structural and behavioral features of the system. A UML model may include at least one of the classifiers that is described using the across variables and/or the through variables of the system. For example, the interface of a component in a UML model may be described using the across variables and/or the through variables of the component.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2007Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: The MathWorks, Inc.Inventors: Nathan E. Patent number: 9438959Abstract: A method and system for watching video and playing games in a mobile communication device are described in which video content is received from a network television channel and, based on the orientation of the mobile communication device and the device type, the video content and/or a game may be displayed. When in a portrait orientation, the operating mode may be such that the video content and/or the game may be displayed. For a tablet device in a portrait orientation, for example, both the video content and the game may be displayed. When the mobile communication device is changed to a landscape orientation, the operating mode may be different and only one of the video content and the game may be displayed based on whether the mobile communication device was rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise. A rewards program may combine the video-watching and game-playing activities of the user.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2012Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: TURNER BROADCASTING SYSTEM, INC.Inventors: Carrie Baugus, Sherri Glass, Christopher Waldron, James Wentzel, Alan Moore, Christine Veith, Beau Teague, Jaclyn Cannon, Randall Coston, Mario Piedra, Paul Condolora, Jason Nunes, Frederick Kahl, Andrew Pratt, Kristin Elllington, Chad Fuller, Kenneth Bunch

Publication number: 20050086231Abstract: The present invention is adapted to provide information archiving software for a computer system, where this computer system includes or has access to at least one primary information storage system and an archiving storage system. The software provided is adapted to firstly determine at least one attribute of collections of information or files stored within the primary storage system, and then to subsequently test the attribute or attributes of these collections against at least one predefined rule. Information collections or files with attributes which pass the test or tests applied may then be transferred to the archiving storage system. Preferably, the software provided is implemented through a stand-alone application running in the computer system provided, independent of any file serving functionality.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2002Publication date: April 21, 2005Inventor: Alan Moore

Patent number: 6216173Abstract: A method and apparatus for incorporating content processing and content routing intelligence into networks. In one embodiment, the content processing and routing (CPR) system is aware of the content and requirements of data and service requests, as well as the capabilities of all services accessible via the system. Efficient network routing is accomplished by considering the capabilities of the available transmission channels, and the transmission needs of all current transmission service requests. Service requests are routed to the most suitable service or combination of services to fulfill the request. A mechanism is also provided for transparently converting data to accommodate data format differences between clients and services. In one embodiment, the CPR system comprises a system kernel consisting of the core software modules that are required to load, initialize and start CPR services, and allow the services to communicate securely. The CPR services conform to several general service types.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1998Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Redbox Technologies LimitedInventors: Adrian Jones, Alan Moore

Patent number: 4978277Abstract: A regenerative turbomachine has a rotatable bladed impeller (1) and an annular housing (3) surrounds the impeller (1) and defines a topological flow channel for a working fluid. There is also an inlet port (4) for admitting a working fluid to the housing (3) and an outlet port (5) spaced circumferentially of the impeller (1) from the inlet port (4) by which the working fluid can leave the housing (3). A guide is also provided for guiding the working fluid entering the inlet part (4) through a slip flow path and a counter-flow path which follow respective spiral paths in opposite directions around the toroidal flow channel. Each flow path makes a number of successive passes through the impeller (1) and each successive pass is spaced circumferentially from the other passes.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1989Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Inventor: Alan Moore

Patent number: 4573864Abstract: A regenerative turbomachine, especially a compressor, in which the working fluid entering via an inlet (16) is divided into slip and counter flow stream. In the each direction, guide means define successive passes through the rotor blades (13) in a generally axial sense. In the slip direction, successive passes (1.sub.DS, 2.sub.DS, 3.sub.DS, etc) are made so as to reintroduce the fluid to the rotor blades at circumferential positions spaces successively in the direction of intended rotor rotation. In the counter flow path successive passes (1.sub.DC, 2.sub.DC, 3.sub.DC, etc) are made so as to reintroduce the fluid at circumferential positions spaced successively in the direction counter to the intended direction of rotor rotation. The slip and counter flow paths are brought together at a common outlet (21), thus obviating the need for a conventional stripper. Intercooling (24) may be provided in at least some passes.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1984Date of Patent: March 4, 1986Inventor: Alan Moore

Patent number: 4546604Abstract: An anti-icing system for a rotating blunt nose bullet of a gas turbine engine uses a rotating thermosyphon effect to create a circulation within a chamber connected for rotation with the nose bullet which draws hot air from a downstream region of the engine forwards to impinge on the nose bullet over a small region close to the engine axis. This avoids complications with separate hot air supplies or electrical heaters. As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 of the drawings, in one embodiment of the invention the chamber consists simply of a tube closed off by the nose bullet and in combination with an engine main shaft which extends to the turbine region of the engine to draw hot gas from this region. Alternatively, the chamber may extend only to the downstream end of the first compressor.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1984Date of Patent: October 15, 1985Assignee: Rolls-Royce LimitedInventors: Alan Moore, Geoffrey E. Harman, David G. Rosser, Edward F. Clapham

Patent number: 4358120Abstract: The invention relates to piston ring seals. In such seals, manufacturing tolerances, distortions, or wear of the ring itself, or of the sealing surface which it contacts can cause out-of-roundness which produces areas of non-contact between the two components of the seal allowing leakage. The present invention overcomes this problem by providing the piston ring (12) FIG. 3, with a plurality of resilient, tightly packed bristles (18) which are contained within the circumference of the ring where the ring circumference contacts the corresponding sealing surface (5) but which can spring out into contact with the sealing surface over areas where the ring loses contact with it. In the example shown, the bristles project both from the radially inner and outer circumferences and are angled in opposite directions to enable the seal to be rotated into position.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1981Date of Patent: November 9, 1982Assignee: Rolls Royce LimitedInventor: Alan Moore
