  • Patent number: 11265678
Abstract: Receiving point of interest zones and alerts on user devices comprises communicating, by a user computing device to a remote computing device, a request for point of interest data corresponding to points of interest within a proximity of the user device; presenting the received point of interest data; identifying a particular point of interest; and outputting an alert regarding the particular point of interest. Receiving point of interest zones on user devices comprises communicating a request for point of interest data; receiving the point of interest data from the remote network device wherein a size of the point of interest zone is determined based on a density of points of interest in the proximity of the user, and wherein the shape of the point of interest zone is expanded in a direction of travel and contracted in the opposite direction; and presenting the received point of interest data.

  • Publication number: 20190204998
Abstract: An audio book server may identify, from a plurality of electronic texts, an electronic text that corresponds with an audio book. The audio book server may determine, based at least in part on the electronic text, organizational data associated with a plurality of time-based locations of the audio book. The audio book server may output the audio book and the organizational data to a remote computing device.

  • Patent number: 9854160
Abstract: Implementations of the disclosed technology include techniques for autonomously collecting image data, and generating photo summaries based thereon. In some implementations, a plurality of images may be autonomously sampled from an available stream of image data. For example, a camera application of a smartphone or other mobile computing device may present a live preview based on a stream of data from an image capture device. The live stream of image capture data may be sampled and the most interesting photos preserved for further filtering and presentation. The preserved photos may be further winnowed as a photo session continues and an image object generated summarizing the remaining photos. Accordingly, image capture data may be autonomously collected, filtered, and formatted to enable a photographer to see what moments they missed manually capturing during a photo session.

  • Publication number: 20170365083
Abstract: Locations and presentation orders of objects of interest (e.g., speech bubbles) in digital graphic novel content are identified such that expanded versions of the objects of interest can be presented to a reader. Specifically, digital graphic novel content is received and locations of interest regions (e.g., rectangular text regions of speech bubbles) in the content are identified by applying a machine-learned model to the content. Locations and presentation orders of objects of interest in the digital graphic novel content are identified based on the identified locations of the interest regions. The digital graphic novel content and presentation metadata including the locations and presentation orders of the objects of interest are provided to a reading device such that expanded versions of the objects of interest are presented to the user in accordance with the presentation metadata.

  • Publication number: 20060271887
Abstract: Techniques are presented to semantically zoom information to fit within a bounded display space. A bounded display space optionally constrained by size or shape is determined. Semantically coherent portions of information to be displayed within the bounded space are determined. Transformation rules are applied to the portion of the information to be displayed to produce a plurality of different length representations. A store of semantic zoom level information associates combinations of the different length portion representations. A desired number of information elements to be displayed within the bounded display space is determined. Iterations over the store of semantic zoom information determine combinations of different length representations that fit within the bounded display space.
