  • Patent number: 9962483
Abstract: Flow control devices and methods using the flow control devices are provided. In a general embodiment, a cassette includes a housing having a constrictor, a tube attached to the housing and positioned through the constrictor, and a ball positioned inside the tube. The constrictor can be constructed and arranged to prevent the ball from moving through the tube at the location proximate the constrictor. The ball can prevent fluid flow in one position and be dislodged to allow fluid flow when the cassette is positioned inside a pumping device. As a result, the cassette is designed to prevent free flow of fluid when an enteral feeding tube set is not installed in a pumping device.

  • Publication number: 20090078443
Abstract: The disclosed inventions relate generally to electrical boxes that may be installed to a ceiling, and more particularly to electrical box ancillary devices, such as brackets, plates and struts, that permit the carrying of heavy ceiling appliances such as ceiling fans and lighting fixtures. Disclosed herein are structural plates and other devices for attachment of ceiling fans and heavy lighting fixtures to structural members, such as trusses and joists, against the load of these fixtures. Also disclosed herein, explicitly or implicitly are methods of using and installing these plates and or brackets, devices and boxes. Detailed information on various example embodiments of the inventions is provided in the Detailed Description below.

  • Patent number: 7341058
Abstract: An improved manifold assembly useful in patient ventilation/aspiration systems includes a stop cock valve with a hollow stem and a transverse port arranged to permit the stem to be rotated between open and closed positions. In both positions, a ventilating pathway is maintained through the stem between ventilator and patient connection ports of the manifold. In the open position the stem provides a travel pathway for a catheter between the patient connection port and an access port of the manifold. In the closed condition, the stem seals this travel pathway. The improvement provides an arrangement of structure operable to resist imparting shear damage to an inserted catheter, and to provide enhanced feedback to an attendant, as the stem is manually rotated into contact with the catheter.
