Patent number: 11265159Abstract: In a general aspect, upgradability scores are determined, and remedial security measures are identified in a computing environment. The computing environment is analyzed to identify computing resources that are eligible to receive a cryptographic security upgrade. Attributes of the computing resources are identified based on communicating with the computing resources. A set of rules, that define upgradability scores as a function of computing resource attributes, is obtained. Sets of intermediate output values are generated for the respective computing resources by applying the set of rules to the identified attributes of the respective computing resources. Upgradability scores are generated for the respective computing resources from the set of intermediate output values for the respective computing resource. Remedial security measures are identified for respective subsets of the computing resources based on the upgradability scores for the respective subsets.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2021Date of Patent: March 1, 2022Assignee: ISARA CorporationInventors: Alexander Truskovsky, Robert Williams, Alan Panezic, Martin Laforest

Patent number: 9154939Abstract: A system and a method are provided managing services associated with a mobile device. It includes detecting a new identity module card is in the mobile device; receiving a username ID and a password on the mobile device; and upon verifying that the username ID and the password are identical to a previous username ID and a previous password associated with the mobile device, the mobile device enabling access to the services. In another aspect, after detecting a new identity module card, and if an input is received to associate a new username ID and a new password with the mobile device, then the services are erased from the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2011Date of Patent: October 6, 2015Assignee: BlackBerry LimitedInventors: Nikolay Tzankov Markov, David Bukurak, Raymond Lee Canton, Avinash Chidambaram, Alan Panezic

Patent number: 8352550Abstract: Apparatus and methods for wireless systems provide a mechanism to enhance the communication capabilities of wireless users. In an embodiment, a system includes a wireless server communicatively operable with a set of mobile wireless clients, where the wireless server has a share agent configured to control dissemination of information from a database on a shared basis responsive to a determination of a privacy state of the information. In an embodiment, a mobile wireless device has an integrated management system operable with a controller. The management system is configured to manage the mobile wireless device operable as a multiple-mode wireless client to each wireless server of a set of wireless servers such that information may be shared among the mobile wireless device and the set of wireless servers.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2008Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Research In Motion LimitedInventors: Jesse Boudreau, Thomas Murphy, Ian Clough, Alan Panezic, David Yach, Salim Omar, Mike Washburn
