  • Patent number: 10271229
Abstract: In an embodiment, a device for determining whether a building unit is capable of receiving a line of sight (LOS) radio service within a service area is provided. The device creates a building units data set based on a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) data set for the service area. The device accesses the building units data set and determines whether a rooftop of the building unit can receive LOS radio service from one or more radio transmitters from a set of radio transmitters within the service area. In another embodiment, a method for determining the placement of an antenna on a rooftop to receive LOS radio service is provided. In an embodiment, the building units data set includes data representative of rooftops and their locations for residential or commercial building units.

  • Patent number: 10021576
Abstract: In an embodiment, a device for selecting an existing transmitter site and/or a location for a transmitter site for a line of sight (LOS) radio service is provided. The device identifies a service area, and creates a building units data set for the service area where each building unit has rooftop data and a location. The device identifies a set of potential transmitter sites based on existing transmitter sites in the service area and/or a set of locations in the service area where a transmitter does not exist. The device determines whether a rooftop for each building unit is visible from each potential transmitter site and/or from each location. The device applies a statistical analysis to determine a subset of the set of potential transmitter sites and/or a subset of the set of potential locations for transmitter sites to provide LOS radio service to the service area.

  • Patent number: 9860770
Abstract: In an embodiment, a system for optimizing service quality for a line of sight (LOS) radio service is provided. The system includes identifying an antenna on a rooftop and determining a transmitter to provide LOS radio service to the antenna. A residential units data set for the service area is created. In an embodiment, the residential units data set is based on a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) data set. The residential units data set is accessed and a cross section analysis of a line of sight from the transmitter with the rooftop data is conducted to identify regions that have line of sight. A region is selected for antenna placement based on the cross section analysis.

  • Patent number: 9602224
Abstract: In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method for optimizing service quality for a line of sight (LOS) radio service is provided. The method includes identifying an antenna on a rooftop and determining a transmitter to provide LOS radio service to the antenna. A service quality ranking is generated based on the level of visibility between the residential unit and the transmitter for each of the identified regions on the rooftop. A region is selected for antenna placement that has the highest service quality ranking.

  • Patent number: 8831283
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method for creating a residential units data set that provides light detection and ranging (LIDAR) data for a service area including data representative of rooftops of residential units and their location is provided. Based on the residential units data set, a series of embodiments are provided. In an embodiment, a method for transmitter site selection for a line of sight (LOS) radio service is provided. In another embodiment a method for identifying a location for a transmitter site for a LOS radio service is provided. In another embodiment, a method for determining whether a residential unit is capable of receiving a LOS radio service from one or more radio transmitters providing line of sight radio service within a service area is provided. In another embodiment, a method for determining the placement of an antenna on a rooftop to receive LOS radio service is provided.

  • Patent number: 8789175
Abstract: A computer-implemented method may include identifying a security event condition associated with a device. One or more security rules may be identified for execution based on the device and the identified security event condition, wherein the one or more security rules define security related actions to be performed upon occurrence of the security event condition. The security related actions may be initiated by at least one processor on the device to secure the device from unauthorized use.

  • Patent number: 8582808
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method for identifying building unit rooftops, and their associated heights and locations is provided. The method includes subtracting a bare earth layer from a first return layer within a LIDAR data set for a geographic area of interest to form an above ground level (AGL) layer data set. A height mask is then applied to the AGL layer data set to form a building units data set. The building units data set includes data representative of potential building unit rooftops. This data set is refined through the application of a series of filters and masks to remove clutter (e.g., trees, bushes and other non-building unit structures) to refine the data set.

  • Patent number: 8464320
Abstract: A computer-implemented method may include receiving first monitored information relating to a user at a time of initial user authentication with a particular application or resource. It may be determined that a second authentication is required at a second time subsequent to the time of initial user authentication. Second monitored information may be captured at the second time. The second monitored information may be compared to the first monitored information to determine whether continued authentication is maintained. Access to the particular application or resource when it is determined that continued authentication is not maintained.
