Abstract: A system integrates diagnostic, therapeutic, monitoring and other devices commonly found in a healthcare environment into a Hospital Information System (HIS) to improve the delivery of healthcare. The system uses intelligent, networked diagnostic, therapeutic, monitoring and other devices to provide device performance and availability information. A medical device management system includes a repository of patient medical records and a scheduling system for use in scheduling of a medical procedure for a particular patient. A configuration manager in bidirectional communication with a medical device automatically initiates pre-configuration of the medical device for use in the medical procedure using medical record information of the particular patient derived from the repository, in response to scheduling of the particular patient to receive the medical procedure.

Abstract: A modular package provides physical protection from shock, crushing and vibration. The modular package is reusable and expandable to fit a variety of sizes of printed circuit boards. In one embodiment, the package has an electrically conductive exterior and provides a faraday shield to protect the printed circuit board from damage by electrical fields.

Abstract: A patient handling system with improved throughput is provided for a computer tomography (CT) system. A scanner room is included with the CT scanner and an associated patient bed support. Removable patient beds are attached to the tops of transportable tables initially located in first and second patient rooms located in adjacent opposite sides of the scanner room, respectively. Patients are prepared and prepositioned in the first and second patient room for later CT scanning in the scanner room. A transfer system provides for selective movement of transportable tables on tracks between the patient rooms and the patient bed support, for permitting the patient beds to be easily moved between the patient bed support and the first and second patient rooms. The beds are oriented on the transportable tables for providing alignment with the patient bed support, for facilitating transfer of the beds between the transportable tables and the patient bed support, and for quicker initiating of X-radiation scanning.

Abstract: Apparatus for substantially reducing field-strength non-uniformities in the bore of a magnet, comprising, a main field producing means for developing a main magnetic field in the bore which is subject to at least one field-strength non-uniformity, a liner of substantially non-magnetic material adapted to be positioned within the bore and having associated therewith at least one channel dimensioned for transporting magnetic material therethrough, and means for introducing and positioning magnetic material within the channel so as to substantially reduce the field strength of the non-uniformity within the bore.
