  • Publication number: 20140007662
Abstract: To address this and/or other needs, the present inventor devised, among other things, a passive moisture detection probe that can be installed and left in place to continuously indicate whether the moisture-content in the wall-cavity of a building is below or above a desirable level. One exemplary moisture detection assembly includes a moisture-absorbent sensor element and an indicator. The sensor element, which can be placed in contact with the inner surface of a home's exterior sheathing, expands and contracts in response to the moisture content of the sheathing. The indicator, for example a rod, moves in responsive to the expansion and contraction of the sensor element, with its relative position corresponding to the moisture in the exterior sheathing and thus providing an on-going and observable sign of moisture intrusion.

  • Patent number: 7922951
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for plugging cells of honeycomb structures are disclosed. A first method covers the honeycomb structure's end face with a mask having a body and plurality of sized openings positioned to oppose certain cell channels, wherein the outer edge of the body extends radially outwardly from the end face. A film also extends outwardly of the end face, and a plug of material is provided upon the film. The mask and film material are sealed to one another, and a force is applied to the film forcing the material through the mask and into the cells. Also disclosed is adhering a mask to a first end face of the honeycomb structure such that the mask has an outer portion that extends radially beyond an outer edge of the honeycomb; providing a volume of plugging material; clamping the outer portion between a first clamping portion and a second clamping portion; and transferring the plugging material into the honeycomb.

  • Publication number: 20090077371
Abstract: An encryption management system provides a solution for embedded system device authentication, secure server-to-device communications, and encryption key management. It reduces implementation times and costs associated with using cryptography for authentication and data privacy with embedded systems applications by freeing application developers from having to develop, manage, or update security-based features in their server-based applications. The template-based approach of the system provides highly customable and accessible security functionalities. To utilize services provided by the encryption management system in some embodiments, calling applications provide input parameters and function calls in the form of a template at runtime, and the output in the form of encrypted and secured messages are either sent to the client devices automatically or returned to the calling applications.

  • Patent number: 7491032
Abstract: An integrally bladed rotor is constructed from a plurality of layers of organic matrix composite material wound together in a spiral fashion to form the disc portion of the rotor, and at each rotor blade position at least the outermost one of the layers is turned substantially radially outwards from the periphery of the rotor disc to form a blade. Each blade is finished with further pieces of organic matrix composite material bonded into position on the. An encircling blade tip shroud may be formed by further layers of material wound around the tips of the blades in conjunction with closed loop inserts in the spaces between blades.

  • Patent number: 6282290
Abstract: A modular exponentiator is adapted to receive a first communicated signal and derive a second signal therefrom by computation of a modular exponentiation of the form be mod n based on the first signal. The modular exponentiator divides the modular exponentiation according to the Chinese remainder theorem into first and second portions respectively having modulus values p and q of approximately half of an original modulus value n of the modular exponentiation. Each portion of the modular exponentiation is factored into respective pluralities of smaller modular exponentiations having precalculated exponent values. The respective pluralities of smaller modular exponentiations are then multiplied together to provide respective intermediate products. The intermediate products are then recombined to yield the modular exponentiation result.
