  • Publication number: 20240138924
Abstract: A first ultrasonic beacon transmission includes a first pilot signal and a first encoded information signal. An apparatus may detect the first pilot signal and decode, based on the first pilot signal, the first encoded information signal to identify a medical system associated with the first ultrasonic beacon transmission. Based on the first encoded information signal, the apparatus may enter into a first pairing state in which the apparatus is communicatively paired with the medical system. While the apparatus is operating in the first pairing state and within a threshold time of entering the first pairing state, the apparatus may detect a second pilot signal included in a second ultrasonic beacon transmission, which also includes a second encoded information signal. Based on the detection of the second pilot signal within the threshold time, the apparatus may continue operating in the first pairing state without decoding the second encoded information signal.

  • Patent number: 6662549
Abstract: A propulsion system (163) having various applications one of which is as a marine drive system for watercraft. The propulsion system (163) comprises a flow passage (173) having an intake (175) for communicating with a source of working fluid such as seawater and an outlet (177). A mixing zone (209) is disposed within the flow passage (173) between the intake (175) and the outlet (177). An injection means including annular nozzle (217) is provided for injecting a hot compressible driving fluid (175) such as steam into the mixing zone (209) in a flow direction towards the outlet (177). The arrangement is such that the interaction between the steam and the seawater in the mixing zone (207) develops a pressure reduction in the mixing zone (207) to cause seawater to be drawn from the source into the mixing zone (207) and propelled towards the outlet (177). A marine drive unit incorporating the propulsion system is also described and claimed, as well as other aspects related to the propulsion system.

  • Patent number: 5154490
Abstract: A ground engaging means providing a running surface for wheels, endless tracks and the like, which is not pneumatic in nature, thereby not susceptible to puncture, and which is resiliently flexible to offer some resistance to shock. The ground engaging means comprises a base and a number of removable, hollow, tubular ground engaging elements which extend transversely of the direction of travel of the running surface. Said ground engaging elements include an inner face for engagement to the base and an outer face for contact with the ground surface, and angular shaped side faces between the inner and outer faces allowing for resilient flexibility under normal load conditions. It is preferable that the ground engaging elements are open at their ends to allow for dissipation of heat and are arranged in circumferential rows, defining a chevron pattern, to prevent resultant side thrust imposed upon the running surface.

  • Patent number: 4953921
Abstract: An endless track (27) for tracked vaheicles comprising an endless flexible band (33) and a plurality of spaced elongated tread elements (41) provided on the outer surface of the band. Each tread element (41) is formed of resilient material and extends transversely of the direction of travel of the track. The tread elements (41) are each in the form of a loop having a ground engaging portion and a pair of side wall portions which are load supporting when the loop is in contact with the ground. The tread elements (41) may be formed integral with, or formed separately of and secured to, the endless flexible band (33). A track assembly is also described and claimed.
