  • Publication number: 20240011524
Abstract: Mechanical joints and processes for using same. The mechanical joint can be configured to provide an articulated connection between a first member and a second member. In some embodiments, the mechanical joint can include a support member and an arm. The support member can define an aperture therethrough and a socket on an inner surface thereof. The arm can include a ball disposed on a first end thereof that can be engaged within and supported by the socket defined by the support member. A second end of the arm can extend through the aperture of the support member such that the arm can rotate relative to the support member about a longitudinal axis of the arm and at least partially rotate about two axes that pass through a center point of the ball that are perpendicular to one another and to the longitudinal axis of the arm.

  • Publication number: 20230287869
Abstract: Offshore wind turbine systems and processes for installing same. The system can include a wind turbine generator that can include a plurality of blades connected thereto. The system can also include a first support arm and a second support arm each having a first end and a second end. The system can also include a support structure that can be configured to float on a surface of a body of water that can include first, second, and third columns. The first end of the first support arm and the first end of the second support arm can each support the wind turbine generator at an elevation above the support structure. The second end of the first support arm can be connected to and supported by the first column. The second end of the second support arm can be connected to and supported by the second column.

  • Patent number: 6679331
Abstract: A guide for a buoyancy can on a floating offshore platform. The platform includes at least one support structure adjacent the buoyancy can. The guide comprises at least one compression pad supported by the support structure and adjacent the exterior surface of the buoyancy can. Lateral movement of the buoyancy can toward the support structure compresses the compression pad so as to absorb the force generated by the buoyancy can movement, and so as to protect the buoyancy can and components of the floating offshore platform from damage.
