  • Patent number: 11760477
Abstract: A motor vehicle (100) has four centreless wheels (10) drivable for use on the ground and four propellers (16) rotatable within the open centres of the wheels (10) for use in the air. The wheel-propeller assemblies (10, 16) are carried on mounting units (14) secured to a frame (12). The mounting units (14) are rotatable on the frame (12) and the wheel-propeller assemblies (10, 16) are rotatable on their respective mounting units (14), in each case by means of servomotors, to convert the vehicle (1009) from its ground mode shown in FIG. 1 to its air mode as shown in FIG. 2, and also to turn the wheel-propeller assemblies (10, 16) so as to steer the vehicle (100) when on the ground and to tilt the wheel-propeller assemblies (10, 16) so as to direct the vehicle (100) when in the air.

  • Patent number: 11459054
Abstract: A foldable bicycle (100) having a riding configuration and a folded configuration includes a first wheel (102) and a second wheel (104) interconnected by a frame (106). At least the first wheel (102) has an open centre (108) and includes an annular rotor (110) engageable with the ground in the riding configuration of the bicycle (100) and an annular stator (114) carrying the annular rotor (110), and the frame (106) has a pivotal connection with the stator (114) of the first wheel (102) whereby the frame (106) is pivotable relative to the first wheel (102) for folding the bicycle (100). The frame (106) and the second wheel (104) connected thereto are together so dimensioned and arranged to fit within the open centre (108) of the first wheel (102) in the folded configuration of the bicycle (100).

  • Patent number: 11091022
Abstract: A centreless wheel for a vehicle is suitable for use in a road-going vehicle, a wheelchair, a trolley, etc. and includes a rotor that is annular around an axis, the rotor having an inner surface forming a plurality of radial teeth to form an annular gear. The rotor is mounted in a member which is annular around the axis, the member having a housing for a drive mechanism with a driveshaft and a pinion mounted thereon in engagement with the annular gear to transmit torque to the rotor. A connection assembly connects the member to the vehicle. An actuator is configured to act upon the housing to move the member and the rotor relative to the connection assembly.
