  • Publication number: 20160086760
Abstract: A structure and associated process for joining dissimilar materials to form various components of an x-ray tube is illustrated that utilizes one or more intermediate or interfacial filler material members positioned between the primary welding or mating surfaces of the base material components to be joined. The use of the interfacial or intermediate filler material preserves the multiple benefits of friction welding, as well as enabling the joining of highly dissimilar material components, decreasing the required joining temperature, and providing increased microstructural control of the resulting well or joint.

  • Publication number: 20160057856
Abstract: A multi-layered electronic system has: a support substrate which supports at least a primary conductive track and a conductive shorting element, which are electrical isolated from one another. A security layer has at least a conductive security connection and a flexible switch element providing an electrical interruption to the conductive security track. The conductive security connection electrically engages the primary conductive track. The flexible switch element is coplanar with the conductive security connection. A dielectric substrate, to which the security layer is affixed, is secured to the support substrate. The electrical interruption of the conductive security connection is bridged by the switch element contacting the conductive shorting element under an actuation force provided from the direction of the dielectric substrate, the switch element being biased away from the conductive shorting element in the absence of the actuation force.

  • Publication number: 20130277977
Abstract: The technology combines a secondarily-fueled boiler with a primary-fueled Rankine steam cycle combustion system in a hybrid process. Outputs from a secondarily-fueled combustion system are fed into the feedwater heater(s), deaerators, feedwater heating lines, and/or reheat lines of a primary-fueled Rankine system. The integrated steam flow eliminates or reduces one or more extractions from the steam turbine generator, thereby allowing it to generate more electrical power using the same Rankine system input energy or generate equivalent electrical power using energy inputs from multiple fuel sources. The technology can be utilized in any type and/or configuration of secondary fuel or secondarily-fueled combustion technology and/or can utilize any type of primary-fueled steam source.

  • Patent number: 7959095
Abstract: This invention relates to a supersonic center-feed nozzle system within the feed-inlet tube of a fluid-energy mill used for grinding particulate material such as titanium dioxide. Particularly, in the feed-inlet tube of the present invention, particulate material is introduced into the supersonic feed jet of primary grinding fluid in almost a perpendicular fashion, with the supersonic nozzle installed in the center of the particulate material core, imparting momentum to the particulate material. The momentum entrains the particulate into the main grinding chamber of the feed-inlet tube. In the main grinding chamber of the feed-inlet tube, a secondary stream of grinding fluid, introduced annularly, constricts the primary jet's divergent flow, enabling a higher turbulent mixing of the grinding fluids and the particulate material.
