  • Publication number: 20050274926
Abstract: Materials and a method are provided whereby polymers with least 0.5 mole % of the pendant group or end group containing —Si(OR?)3 (where R? is H, an alkyl group, Na, K, or NH4) are used to control aluminosilicate scaling in an industrial process having an alkaline process stream such as a pulping mill process stream. When materials of the present invention are added to the alkaline process stream, they reduce and even completely prevent formation of aluminosilicate scale on equipment surfaces such as evaporator walls and heating surfaces. The present materials are effective at treatment concentrations that make them economically practical.

  • Publication number: 20050252834
Abstract: A mineral beneficiating reagent containing an alkyl hydroxamic acid or salt thereof and a nonionic surfactant. The alkyl hydroxamic acid or a salt thereof is represented by the formula: R—C(?O)N(R?)—OM, wherein R is linear or branched C2-C18 alkyl, linear or branched C2-C18 alkenyl, C6-C20 aryl or substituted aryl, C7-C26 aralkyl or substituted aralkyl; R? is H, C1-C12 alkyl or aralkyl; M is hydrogen, an alkali metal, or an ammonium cation represented by N+(A,B,C,D) wherein each of A,B,C,D, respectively, are H or C1-C6 alkyl or benzyl radicals. The nonionic surfactant can be any known nonionic surfactant, including but not limited ethoxylated alcohols, esters, ethoxylated acids, ethoxylated (alkyl) phenols, alcanolamides, polyethylene oxide copolymers and mixtures thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050042157
Abstract: Froth flotation processes, useful for beneficiating base metal mineral values from metal sulfide ore, utilize a collector comprising an N-butoxycarbonyl-O-alkylthionocarbamate selected from the group consisting of N-butoxycarbonyl-O-methylthionocarbamate, N-butoxycarbonyl-O-ethylthionocarbamate, N-butoxycarbonyl-O-propylthiononocarbamate, N-butoxycarbonyl-O-butylthionocarbamate, N-butoxycarbonyl-O-pentylthionocarbamate, and N-butoxycarbonyl-O-hexylthionocarbamate.

  • Publication number: 20050010008
Abstract: Abstract of the Disclosure Materials and a process are provided whereby polymers with the pendant group or end group containing --Si(OR")3 (where R" is H, an alkyl group, Na, K, or NH4) are used to control aluminosilicate scaling in a Bayer process. When materials of the present invention are added to the Bayer liquor before the heat exchangers, they reduce and even completely prevent formation of aluminosilicate scale on heat exchanger walls. The present materials are effective at treatment concentrations that make them economically practical.
