  • Publication number: 20070033860
Abstract: A fuel composition comprising gasoline having a sulphur content of less than 10 ppm by weight and an aromatic content of less than 25% by volume, characterized in that said composition comprises at least 5% by volume of olefins and is substantially free of any ethers. The fuel composition so formed has reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. The emissions from such compositions can be further reduced by incorporating therein a small amount of ethanol.

  • Publication number: 20060230817
Abstract: This invention relates to a microcantilever stress sensor for detecting and quantifying low levels of contaminants in liquids and gases. The invention uses a chemical agent to impart chemical specificity to the microcantilever stress sensor. The microcantilever deflects when the chemical agent is replaced by a more strongly adsorbing chemical species. The magnitude of the deflection is then used as a measure of the quantity of contaminant present.

  • Publication number: 20060090727
Abstract: Tuning fuel composition delivered to a spark ignition, internal combustion engine as a function of driving cycle conditions results in improvements in one or more of fuel efficiency and combustion emissions.

  • Publication number: 20050245776
Abstract: This invention relates to a fuel composition comprising a base fuel having a final boiling point above 150° C. and an anti-foam, characterised in that the anti-foam comprises di-isobutylene in an amount greater than 2.5 % by volume based on the total fuel composition. The addition of this anti-foam reduces the break-up time for any foam formed significantly.

    Publication date: November 3, 2005
    Inventors: Stuart Pace, Alan Schilowitz
  • Publication number: 20050102891
Abstract: This invention relates to a fuel composition comprising (i) a low sulphur fuel having a sulphur content of less than 30 ppm, a bromine number of less than 10 and an ultraviolet absorbance at 319 nm is below 0.15 and (ii) an effective amount of an ashless friction reducing additive which is a fatty acid having 10-30 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof. The fuel of the specified characteristics shown improved response to the friction reducing additive in respect of its lubricity performance.

  • Publication number: 20050035755
Abstract: A method for deconvoluting a time dependent impedance spectrum and using the deconvoluted time dependent impedance spectrum as an indicator of the performance condition of a working fluid is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method to determine the viscosity ratio of a working fluid using the resistance ratio obtained from frequency dependent impedance data.
