  • Patent number: 8186902
Abstract: A disabling tab (100) for disabling an anti-disengagement or safety catch (80) such as on a connector (20) of a pedestal for elevated floors having mating internally and externally threaded components is disclosed. The safety catch (80) is a pivoted wedge shaped block defined at the lower end of an externally threaded component which defines a ramped portion (84) extending to a buttress end (86) facing the start of the external thread. In the internally threaded components, one thread also defines a buttress end (92). When the components are screwed together, the ramp (84) of the safety catch deflects inwards and passes the buttress end (92). When the components are unscrewed, the end (86) of the catch abuts the end (92) of the thread preventing the components from being unscrewed.

  • Publication number: 20110097151
Abstract: A drainage cell (10) comprises a backing plate (12) defining a plurality of holes (16a, 16b), a series of conical tubular structures (18) having side walls and a base extending from the backing layer, the tubular structures being in fluid communication with at least some of the holes (16a, 16b) in the backing plate (12) thereby allowing fluid to pass through the holes into a generally tubular structure. The sides of the tubular structures define apertures (109) permitting fluid flow out of the tubular structures through the walls of the tubular portions. Typically, the perforated or open area of the tubular structures is at least 20% of the area of the side walls of the tubular structures, more preferably at least 40%, more preferably 50% or greater and most preferably of the order of 70 to 75%.

  • Patent number: 7866096
Abstract: A slope adjustable head for an adjustable pedestal (10) for supporting beams, panel members, typically pavers, in accurate edge aligned relation, in a level plane is disclosed. The pedestal (10) includes a base block (12) and a series of inter-engaging threaded annular elements (20, 30) which can be rotated relative to each other to adjust the height of the top of the pedestal in a screw jack fashion. A slope compensator is located at the top of the pedestal and comprises a slope compensation plate (100) and a head member (50). Rotation of the slope compensation plate (100) about its center of curvature causes the angle of the adjustment plate relative to the vertical axis to change thus allowing for compensation for the slope of the surface on which the pedestal is standing.

The head member (50) defines a concave surface having a defined radius of curvature. The slope compensation plate (100) defines a corresponding convex surface having the same radius of curvature and sits on top of the head member. The pedestal (10) is calibrated to allow adjustment for typically zero to five percent in one percent increments. The top member defines a central aperture (56) and a series of holes (72) arranged in a spiral around the central aperture.

  • Patent number: 6736569
Abstract: A structural module comprises a rigid cell including two substantially parallel planar members, each of which defines an ordered array of circular apertures with a series of columns disposed substantially normally to the two parallel surfaces retaining the two members in a fixed spaced relationship from each other. Male interlocking means which are integral with the module project from two adjacent side edges of the module. Female interlocking means are defined the other two adjacent side edges. The modules can be secured together in side edge to side edge relation, in which relationship the male locking means from a first module engage in a female locking means of a second module.
