Publication number: 20150213295Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring the location of animate and inanimate objects include tags operatively connected to the object configured for wireless communication with one or more hubs within a monitoring site. The tags may send preemptive identifying signals to the hubs when in a range of communication using Bluetooth Low Energy signals. The hubs may register with the tags within a certain location and send status signals over a network. The status signals may be used to monitor the location of the objects and tags, and may be used to generate messages indicating location information of the objects. Cloud based computing may be used to run applications and databases to monitor and share tag location information.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2015Publication date: July 30, 2015Inventors: David Ginsburg, Alan Simon

Patent number: 8026101Abstract: The invention is a method for detecting failures in an analyzer for conducting clinical assays. Potential errors that can result in assay failures in an analyzer are identified, as are their potential sources. The probability that an error source so identified will result in a clinically significant error is also determined. Available potential detection measures corresponding to the source of potential errors are identified with a combination of such measures selected and implemented based on their probability of detecting such errors within an acceptable limit with a concomitant low probability of the false detection of an assay failure. Each of the measures selected are functionally independent of others chosen to address the source of the error and are not subject to the same inherent means of failed detection. Applications of the method in a clinical analyzer are also presented.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2005Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc.Inventors: Randy Kristopher Bower, Stuart Gilmour MacDonald, James David Shaw, Mark Alan Simon, Michael Avdenko, Joseph John Dambra, David Donald Hyde, Merrit Nyles Jacobs, James Daniel Riall

Patent number: 7881516Abstract: An image fusion method which is used for medical applications. The method includes: (a) acquiring a first image with a planned radiation region; (b) acquiring a second image with actual radiation region; (c) determining if user defined landmarks have been placed on the first and second images, if user defined landmarks are present go to step (d), if not go to step (e); (d) pre-transforming the first image or second image or both images; and (e). performing a first delineation step on the actual radiation region. The method further includes: (f) determining if the delineation is correct, if yes go to step (g), if not go to step (h); (g) fusing the first and second image and exit process; and (h) selecting multiple guide points around the actual radiation region in the second image, wherein the guide points are position adaptable points; which are placed near but not on the boundaries of the region; and (i) performing a second delineation step on the actual radiation region and go to step (f).Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2007Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Assignee: Carestream Health, Inc.Inventors: Shoupu Chen, Richard Alan Simon

Publication number: 20050121030Abstract: A face mask comprises a sealing collar (1) extending around the mouth with a shelf (4) extending under the nose supporting a gel insert (7) that makes sealing contact between the nostrils and a passage (6) through the shelf. A curved, rigid window (30) is a push fit in a central opening (2) of the collar (1) and has a gas inlet (33) attached with it so that the window can be removed or connected with the sealing collar as necessary. The collar (1) supported on the head by a harness (20) having two triangular portions (21) on opposite sides encircling respective ears.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2003Publication date: June 9, 2005Inventors: Timothy Bateman, Giles Bishop, Stephen Field, Andrew Lee, Eric Pagan, Alan Simon

Patent number: 6497444Abstract: A shield for the rear portion of a golf cart to protect the occupants from at least some UV radiation. It is a flexible somewhat transparent woven closed structure with a top panel, two side panels and a rear panel joined at edges so as to embrace the golf cart. An elongated strap at the bottom of each side panel extends beneath the seat. They are releasable joined, so that when they are joined and the seat is down, the shield is held in place, with the side rails of the golf cart unobstructed.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2001Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Inventor: Alan Simon

Patent number: T970003Abstract: a scanner repeatability error determining apparatus for use with a line scanning apparatus which includes a galvanometer responsive to a complex signal having ramp signal and compensation signal components for driving a line scan mirror. The compensation signal is a function of variations in velocity of the line scan mirror from a desired velocity. The apparatus includes circuitry for defining a predetermined range for the compensation signal and when such compensation signal is outside of this range produces an indication that there is a repeatability error.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1977Date of Patent: May 2, 1978Inventors: John Edward Newton, Mark Alan Simon
