Patent number: 7708802Abstract: A portable gas fractionalization system with built-in administrative and self-diagnostic functions is provided. The system includes a multiple mode programmable controller which has a operations mode and a diagnostic mode that can be activated by a triggering event. The triggering event can be when a user enters a command input, when one or more process parameters deviate from a nominal value, or when the system is scheduled to perform self-diagnostics. The system also includes a multi-level user interface which is integrally formed with the system. The user interface includes a multi-level display screen and a plurality of user command functions. The diagnostic information displayed on the display screen can be in an abbreviated code form so that only technicians would be able to interpret meaning of the code.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2006Date of Patent: May 4, 2010Assignee: Inogen, Inc.Inventors: Geoffrey Frank Deane, Jeffrey Jenneve, Michael Ricci, Brenton Alan Taylor

Patent number: 7700131Abstract: Powders having contact biocidal properties comprise a polysaccharide carrying atomic/metallic silver. The preferred polysaccharide is chitin, although other polysaccharides including chitosan, carboxymethyl celluloses and carrageenans can be used. The chitin may be obtained from deproteinated crustacean shells without demineralisation, thus being admixed with calcium carbonate and other naturally occurring minerals present in the shells, and may be enzyme deacetylated. The powders of the invention can be used as biocidal dusting powders, formulated into pastes, gels, hydrogels, creams, foams and aerosol sprays for pharmaceutical applications, or dissolved to form solutions for coating substrates such as skin, fabrics, glass, leather and paper to give a bactericidal surface. A particular application of such a solution is as a protective, post-wash treatment for workwear in a laundering process.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2005Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: Chitoproducts LimitedInventors: Alan Taylor, George Andrew Francis Roberts, Frances Ann Wood

Patent number: 7686870Abstract: An oxygen concentrator system that includes or can be expanded to include more than one compressor is provided. The system utilizes a controller that is adapted to selectively activate or deactivate one or more of the compressors to optimize system performance and efficiency. Multiple compressors can be selected to operate at the same time, thereby enabling the system to operate at a higher peak pressure, increase the recovery of the PSA cycle, and expand the product rate. The additional compressors can also be removed when not in use so as to reduce weight of the system. In some implementations, the system housing reserves a certain amount of space for accommodating additional compressors and related components, which can be added to the system as after market parts. In other implementations, the additional compressor can be located external to the system.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2006Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Assignee: Inogen, Inc.Inventors: Geoffrey Frank Deane, Lawrence Howes, Brenton Alan Taylor

Patent number: 7438745Abstract: A portable gas fractionalization apparatus that provides oxygen rich air to patients is provided. The apparatus is compact, lightweight, and low-noise. The components are assembled in a housing that is divided into two compartments. One compartment is maintained at a lower temperature than the other compartment. The lower temperature compartment is configured for mounting components that can be damaged by heat. The higher temperature compartment is configured for mounting heat generating components. An air stream is directed to flow from an ambient air inlet to an air outlet constantly so that there is always a fresh source of cooling air. The apparatus utilizes a PSA unit to produce an oxygen enriched product. The PSA unit incorporates a novel single ended column design in which all flow paths and valves can be co-located on a single integrated manifold. The apparatus also can be used in conjunction with a satellite conserver and a mobility cart.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2004Date of Patent: October 21, 2008Assignee: Inogen, Inc.Inventors: Geoffrey Frank Deane, Brenton Alan Taylor, Chung Ming Li

Publication number: 20080107558Abstract: A powder metal part infiltration process uses a stamped metallic sheet as a source of metal for infiltration to achieve a high strength powder metal part. A powder metal is compacted, and an infiltrant blank is formed from a wrought metal sheet. The infiltrant blank is placed on top of the compact, and the compact is sintered at a temperature sufficient to form a sintered compact with a matrix having pores and to melt the wrought metal such that the melted wrought metal infiltrates the pores of the matrix. The infiltrant blank may be formed with a locating element for engaging a corresponding locating element on the compact to improve positioning of the blank on the compact. Also, the compact may be separately sintered, and the infiltrant blank may then be placed on the sintered compact. The wrought metal is then melted such that the melted wrought metal infiltrates the pores of the matrix.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2005Publication date: May 8, 2008Applicant: GKN SINTER METALS, INC.Inventors: L. Patent number: 7344726Abstract: In a process for the preparation of an article having a contact biocidal property, there is provided a polymer solution which contains atomic/metallic silver in suspension or complexed with the polymer and/or which contains a silver compound in solution, in suspension or complexed with the polymer. This polymer solution is applied to a substrate by impregnation or surface deposition, thus coating the substrate. Alternatively, it is possible to convert the polymer solution to a fibre, film, powder or foam, effectively forming the article from the polymer solution instead of coating an existing article. In either case, any silver compound present is reduced to atomic/metallic silver, and the resultant article is dried. Chitosan is preferably used as the polymer, although poly(vinyl alcohol) and sodium alginate can also be used. The polymer may be cross-linked at a suitable point in the process to insolubilize it.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: March 18, 2008Assignee: Chitoproducts LimitedInventors: Alan Taylor, George Andrew Francis Roberts, Frances Ann Wood
