Abstract: A micro-hybrid motor vehicle 2 having an engine 5 started by an electrical starter 6 is disclosed having a starter system that adaptively responds to ageing of an electrical power source such as a capacitor 12 used to power the starter motor 6 so as to maintain engine starting performance. The starter system includes a controller 20 which is programmed to increase the voltage used to charge the capacitor 12 when it is determined that the state of health of the capacitor 12 has degraded.

Abstract: A blade for the use in the generation of power has a leading edge and a trailing edge. A first shell portion of the blade extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge. A second shell portion of the blade also extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge. A root portion of the blade is positioned proximate the wind turbine and a tip portion which extends from the root portion away from the wind turbine. A trailing edge insert is positioned between the first shell portion and the second shell portion proximate the root portion. The trailing edge insert has a surface which extends between and separates the first shell portion from the second shell portion at the trailing edge, such that the insert provides a high lift profile for increased blade efficiency.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product search a cache database in response to a search request from a user, determine which of the search results is most likely to be preferred by the user, and verify the preferred results against a real-time database. If the verification determines that the preferred results are accurate, then all the search results are provided to the user. If the verification determines that the preferred results are not accurate, then those results are deleted and the remaining results are provided to the user. As a result, the accuracy of the results returned to the user is increased, while queries of the real-time database are utilized only where most useful and are thereby reduced.

Abstract: The present invention generates a grid of low-priced fare combinations for either a selected departure and return date or a range of departure and return dates. The present invention uses various techniques to reduce processing and delay in generating the grids. The present invention first converts flight itineraries for the selected departure and return dates or the range of dates into the fare domain. The invention discards fare combinations that are not valid for the given travel request. The valid fare combinations are processed to determine which has the lowest fare price. The fare combinations are processed one at a time starting with the cheapest fare combination to determine which of the possible flight itineraries may be covered by the fare combination. The invention may use additional prunning steps to validate the fare combinations prior to application to individual flight itineraries. As each fare combination is matched to a flight itinerary, the grid is populated with this fare combination.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of accounting for printing to a sheet of media in a printing device includes recording the type of media actually used, determining an amount of pigment used on the sheet of media, and calculating the cost of printing to the media by adding the cost of the sheet of media actually used and the cost of the pigment used on the sheet of media. The method also includes determining an amortized cost related to the printing device per sheet of media, and adding it to the cost of the media and the cost of the pigment.

During passage of combustion gas through the annular space, the combustion gas comes into close proximity with the oxidation catalyst (18) and the oxidation catalyst (18) acts to equilibrate the combustion gas.
