  • Publication number: 20070197491
Abstract: Methods and compositions for controlling ocular hypertension associated with (i) primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), (ii) other forms of glaucoma, or (iii) glucocorticoid therapy are disclosed. The methods involve administration of angiostatic agents and other IOP-lowering agents via local injections in the anterior segment of the eye. The most preferred IOP-lowering agents are angiostatic steroids, particularly anecortave acetate, and the most preferred route of administration is an anterior juxtascleral injection or implant. The invention is based in part on the discovery that anterior juxtascleral injections of anecortave acetate are capable of controlling intraocular pressure for sustained periods of from one to several months or more. This result is believed to be attributable to facilitation of access of the anecortave acetate to the trabecular meshwork via the anterior juxtascleral route of administration.

  • Publication number: 20060110459
Abstract: A triple natural polymer viscoelastic composition is disclosed. By combining glucosamine sulfate (“GS”), sodium hyaluronate (“HA”) and chondroitin sulfate (“CS”), the triple natural polymer viscoelastic compositions of this invention can provide a viscoelastic agent at a surgical site that not only serves as a protective agent to ocular tissues, but that can also act as an agent to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with ocular surgery. Embodiments of this invention can comprise GS combined with existing HA/CS viscoelastic agents. Embodiments of this invention can also comprise GS and CS in combination with an irrigation solution. Further, to enhance retention time at the site of an intra-articulate application of an embodiment of this invention, the following biodegradable polymers may also be included in an embodiment of the compositions of the present invention: cellulose derivatives (e.g., hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, ethylcellulose, caboxymethylcellulose, etc.), carbopol, citosan, and collagen.

  • Publication number: 20060003964
Abstract: A method of performing viscosurgery and intra-articular therapy and a dilution resistant viscoelastic composition are disclosed. One embodiment of the dilution resistant composition comprises a hyaluronate-based viscoelastic agent and a low viscosity, polymer-containing solution. The hyaluronate-based viscoelastic can be an aqueous solution sodium hyaluronate having an average molecular weight greater than 750,000 Daltons and a concentration by weight between 0.5% and 10%. The polymer-containing solution can contain a polymer selected from the group consisting of chondroitin sulfate and methylcellulose. One embodiment can comprise a polymer-containing solution containing methylcellulose at a concentration by weight from about 0.05% to about 5.0% and chondroitin sulfate at a concentration by weight from about 0.1 to about 10%.

  • Publication number: 20050193788
Abstract: The invention includes apparatus aiding in locating a lock cylinder and orienting a key to the keyhole, which may preferably include a label. It may guide a person by providing high contrast visual and/or tactile clues. Preferably, applying light to the apparatus for at most two seconds causes it to visually communicate for at least thirty seconds. The invention includes a method for manufacturing the apparatus, as well as the apparatus and the mountable apparatus as products of manufacturing. The invention includes installing the apparatus on a lock. The mounted apparatus and installed lock are products of installation. The invention includes using the apparatus. The inserted key in the keyhole is a product of the use of the apparatus. The inserted key in the keyhole may be used to engage the lock, or to disengage the lock.

  • Patent number: 5740469
Abstract: An apparatus for allowing a single software Tool (136) to read and write multiple Object File Formats utilize dynamically configurable and loadable Object File Readers (131) and Writers (139). A separate Reader (131) and Writer (139) can be implemented for each different Object File Format and variations thereof. Tools (136) communicate with the Readers (131) and Writers (139) using a Generalized Object File Program Interface (124). This Interface (124) utilizes Data Structures implementing a Generalized Object File Internal Representation (122) and an Applications Programmers Interface (120).
