    Abstract: A metal rubber composite includes a metal layer and a foamed fluoroelastomer layer. The foamed fluoroelastomer layer is a cured FKM elastomer. The FKM elastomer includes expanded thermoplastic beads that cause the FKM to foam. The product is formed by applying the uncured FKM product in combination with the elastomeric beads onto a substrate. Any solvent is removed and the beads are heated to cause them to expand. Subsequently, the elastomer is cured at a higher temperature, causing vulcanization.
