    Abstract: A controller of an information handling system (IHS) prevents unauthorized access to an information handling system (IHS). The controller determines whether a lock data structure in a persistent memory device indicates one or more resources of the IHS are in a locked state. If in locked state, the controller: (i) disables a processor subsystem of the IHS from performing a start-up procedure until a unique password is received from a user interface coupled to the IHS; (ii) receives an input; (iii) determines whether the input matches a unique password contained in an externally unreadable portion of memory of the IHS; (iv) in response to the input matching the unique password, permanently changes the lock data structure to an unlocked state and enables the processor subsystem to perform the start-up procedure.

    Abstract: A controller of an information handling system (IHS) performs a method to detect tampering with functional components of IHS. Following a last authorized configuration change of locally-available information handling resources, a unique code is generated and stored with a time-stamped system log entry in a system memory. Prior to transit, a system management audit (SMA) log snapshot is generated and provided to an audit device for separately conveying to a recipient of the IHS. In response to powering up at least the controller of the IHS after transit, a current SMA log snapshot is obtained that includes a current SMA log entry and a current unique code. Access by an audit device is provided to the current SMA log snapshot to enable comparison to the SMA log snapshot created prior to transit for identifying whether there has been tampering with the IHS.

    Abstract: A method, information handling system (IHS) and a detection system for detecting a spoofed firmware image in an IHS. The method includes a processor triggering a controller to execute a diagnostic image for testing an image under test. At least one first test result is received from the controller executing the diagnostic image. The method further includes determining whether the first test result is a valid first test result. In response to determining that the first test result is not a valid first test result, the image under test is identified as a spoofed image that has failed testing. An error message is generated that identifies the image under test as being a spoofed image and the error message is stored to an error log.
