  • Publication number: 20230066132
Abstract: A surgical planning method carried out by a data processing apparatus that comprises determining a lateral force-distance characteristic for each of a plurality of knee flexion angles, determining a medial force-distance characteristic for each of the plurality of knee flexion angles, using a lateral force-distance characteristic to determine a lateral knee gap distance corresponding to a target force for at least one of the plurality of knee flexion angles, and using a medial force-displacement characteristic to determine a medial knee gap distance corresponding to a target force for at least one of the plurality of knee flexion angles. The method also comprises outputting the lateral knee gap distance corresponding to the target force and the medial knee gap distance corresponding to the target force as a function of knee flexion angle.

  • Publication number: 20220387113
Abstract: A coupling system for securing and positioning a reflective marker in a navigation array is disclosed. The coupling system can include a carrier configured to hold the marker with a reflective element for detection by a surgical tracking system in a socket of the array. The carrier can include a body with an exterior for interfacing with the socket and an open end with engagement features for holding a body of the marker. The carrier is configured to visibly present the reflective element of the marker in the socket when the carrier is disposed in the socket. The carrier can be configured to securely hold the marker to the array when the marker is disposed in the carrier and the carrier is disposed in the array such that the marker cannot be removed from the carrier unless the carrier is removed from the socket.

  • Publication number: 20220387112
Abstract: A flexible marker system for use with a computer-assisted surgical (CAS) tracking system is disclosed. The system includes a rigid frame or instrument having a plurality of coupling locations each configured to position a navigation marker in a predetermined position and a flexible array configured to be coupled with the rigid frame or instrument. The flexible array can include an elastically deformable body and a plurality of navigation markers, where the flexible array is configured to be coupled to the rigid frame or instrument by stretching the elastically deformable body over the rigid frame or instrument such that each of the plurality of navigation markers is positioned at one of the plurality of coupling locations of the rigid frame or instrument.

  • Publication number: 20210153957
Abstract: Surgical tools and robotic systems adaptable for treating a left side or a right side of a patient with minimal interference with the patient and surrounding operative site are disclosed. In some embodiments, a surgical tool can include a body, an end-effector, a first connector, a second connector, and a third connector. The end-effector can extend from a distal end of the body and be movable relative to the body about a pivot axis. The first connector can rigidly secure the body to a planar mechanism. The second and third connectors can rigidly secure a distal part and a proximal part of a tracker, respectively, to the body. The first and second connectors can be symmetrical to each other with respect to a plane including a longitudinal axis of the body and the pivot axis and can be suited for attachment of either the tracker or the planar mechanism.
