  • Publication number: 20070225192
Abstract: Particles containing a metal peroxide in which the metal is chosen from the groups IIa and IIb of the periodic table and in which at least 50% by weight of the particles have a diameter higher than 20 ?m. Process for the preparation of such particles comprising: (a) mixing at least one metal oxide or hydroxide, the metal being chosen from the groups IIa and IIb of the periodic table, in the form of an aqueous solution, a suspension or a solid, with an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution, (b) allowing the metal oxide or hydroxide to react with hydrogen peroxide to form a suspension of the corresponding peroxide, (c) adding to this suspension at least one additive, and (d) drying the resulting peroxide suspension.

  • Patent number: 5171376
Abstract: Fluxes for aluminium brazing or welding may be produced by grinding the slag by-product of aluminium boron master alloy production. The grinding is preferably to below 75 microns size but particularly preferably to below 30 microns size. The fluxes may be mixed into water to produce a stable, mobile slurry which may be spray-applied to an aluminium work-piece.

  • Patent number: 4729835
Abstract: Organic sulphides are extremely malodorous compounds that are found in gaseous or aqueous effluents from many industries such as paper and pulp manufacture, hydrocarbon refinering, tanneries, and in the synthesis of organic sulphur compounds. Their removal is necessary before such effluents can be discharged into the environment. In the present invention their removal is effected using hydrogen peroxide at a pH controlled to pH 8.5 to 11.5 and in the presence of a catalytic amount of a soluble tungstate. Such a process is especially applicable to the removal of dialkyl disulphides, which are regarded as being especially difficult to remove oxidatively. In especially preferred conditions, the pH is about pH 11 and about 3-4 moles H.sub.2 O.sub.2 is used per mole equivalent of sulphur, in the presence of at least 20 ppm sodium tungstate (as W).
