  • Patent number: 5865367
Abstract: A box having a container space for retaining box contents is provided. The box is constructed of a foldable sheet material. The box includes first and second side panels, first and second edge panels, and first and second end flaps. All flaps and panels are foldable about associated fold lines to effect a box having sides and seal ends which together define the container space. A removable strip portion is provided on either an end flap or an edge panel to provide access to the container space. The removable strip portion is defined by interior and exterior partial cuts scored into the foldable material, including a plurality of aligned interrupted exterior cuts that are disposed for an extent coincidentally with an associated fold line. The removable strip portion thus constructed helps ensure folding of the associated flap or panel about the intended fold line while maintaining the strength and integrity of the folded edge.

  • Patent number: 5641118
Abstract: A package for containing solids and other consumable contents is provided that includes a tray having walls and a bottom panel defining a container space and a tray cover having a lid wall panel that encloses the container space. The package thus closed effects a storage container for the contents. The tray cover is constructed of a foldable sheet material. The tray cover includes flap panels that are foldable about flap fold lines over a side of the tray. A removable strip portion and lid separation cuts are provided to facilitate separation of a substantial portion of the lid wall panel from the tray to allow consuming access to the contents. The removable strip portion is defined by interior and exterior partial cuts scored into the tray cover including a plurality of aligned interrupted exterior cuts that are disposed for an extent coincidentally with the flap fold lines.

  • Patent number: 4452355
Abstract: A display carton for holding a spherical object, such as a basketball or the like wherein the object is displayed to a potential purchaser. The carton has framing flaps which engage the object being displayed to retain it in place in the carton. The framing flaps are locked in place so that the object cannot be easily removed from the carton.

  • Patent number: 4415183
Abstract: A multi-pocket pad (folder) is formed from a one-piece paperboard blank. The folder includes a cover panel, two body panels and two pad retention panels which are adhered in a face-to-face relationship. Flap members, connected by fold lines on the opposite ends of the body panels, form a plurality of pockets. A retention panel has a structure, such as a slit or holes, to hold a notebook. An elongated panel (spline) may be used to hold a pen and the cover panel may be removably joined to a pad retention panel to close the folder.

  • Patent number: 4401257
Abstract: A multiple pocket, expandable envelope is formed by folding panels of a planar, unitary blank relative to each other. The envelope has a front, a back, and a pair of intermediate panels hingedly coupled to each other along parallel end edges. A front divider panel is disposed between the front panel and one of the intermediate panels while a back divider panel is disposed between the back panel and the other of the intermediate panels to define four pockets within the envelope. The back panel is hingedly coupled to the back divider panel along a fold line at one side thereof. The one intermediate panel is hingedly coupled to the front divider panel along a fold line at one side thereof. A plurality of side panels hingedly couple the front panel to the front divider panel and the other intermediate panel to the back divider panel.

  • Patent number: 4361265
Abstract: A display tray is provided with opposed double side walls formed by cutting panels from a top wall of the tray and pivoting the panels downwardly so that a portion of each panel is adhesively secured to the bottom wall of the tray. The double side wall construction furnishes an air space on opposed sides of a product held within the tray to cushion movement thereof and the opening formed in the top wall enables visibility of the product positioned within the tray. End closure panels are connected to the bottom and top panels, respectively, for closing opposed ends of the tray. The end closure panels connected to the bottom panel include slots for receiving a corresponding tab extending outwardly from each of the closure panels connected to opposed end edges of the top panel, which are folded 180.degree. about the bottom closure panel so that the tabs may be inserted into the slots to form an end panel lock.

  • Patent number: 4356950
Abstract: A two-piece paperboard carton including a tray portion having an open top for receiving a plurality of articles, such as cotton swabs. A rectangular cover sleeve is slid over the tray portion so as to retain the swabs within the tray. The sleeve includes a generally elliptically-shaped opening substantially closed by a transparent, plastic sheet which is spaced from opposite score lines of the sleeve and is perforated along a line or seam perpendicular to the adjacent score lines. In order to gain access to the cotton swabs and dispense the same from the tray, the film is separated into two halves along the perforated seam. Upon removal of a swab from the tray through the seam in the film, the film will return to its initial position to create a dust barrier for the swabs remaining in the tray.

  • Patent number: 4331290
Abstract: A multiple pocket, expandable envelope is formed by folding panels of a planar, unitary blank relative to each other. The envelope has two pair of front and back panels hingedly coupled along a common end edge. Each front and back panel includes a front and back divider panel therebetween to define six pockets within the envelope. Each front panel is hingedly coupled to a front divider panel along a fold line at one side thereof. Each back panel is hingedly coupled to a back divider panel along a fold line at one side thereof. A plurality of side panels hingedly couple each front panel to a front divider panel at the other side of the front panel, each back panel to a back divider panel at the other side of the back panel, and the front and back divider panels at each pair to each other. One of the front panels in each pair is hingedly coupled to one of the back panels in an adjacent pair to form the six-pocket, expandable envelope.

  • Patent number: 4313558
Abstract: A multiple pocket, expandable envelope, and a blank and method of forming the envelope, involve the use of a planar, unitary blank. The envelope has front and back panels and front and back divider panels therebetween to define three pockets within the envelope. The front panel is hingedly coupled to the front divider panel along a fold line at one side thereof. The back panel is hingedly coupled to the back divider panel along a fold line at one side thereof. A plurality of side panels hingedly couple the front panel to the front divider panel at the other side of the front panel, the back panel to the back divider at the other side of the back panel, and the front and back divider panels to each other. This permits the multiple pocket, expandable envelope to be formed from a planar, unitary blank in a simple and inexpensive one-pass straight line operation on conventional folding and gluing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4307804
Abstract: A product-to card or card type package is provided having a preapplied heat shrinkable plastic film for securing a product thereto. More particularly, a package is provided having a main panel and a pair of side support panels which are hingedly connected to the opposed side edges of the main panel. A heat shrinkable film extends between the side support panels and is adhesively connected thereto such that after a product is inserted between the plastic film and the main panel, and thereafter the package is subjected to heat, the plastic film will shrink into close conformity with the product thereby causing the side support panels to be drawn into abutting relationship with the product such that the product is secured to the package. An aperture may be provided in the main panel for receiving a portion of the product so as to aid in preventing longitudinal shifting of the product in the package.
