  • Patent number: 4881437
Abstract: Device for guiding a workpiece to be cut at any of a plurality of angles on a power saw and like cutting machine of the type including a tabletop and a blade movable within a cutting line for cutting the workpiece held stable on the tabletop. The device includes a pair of guiding bar; one bar is constantly set at an angle of 90.degree. degrees with respect to the cutting line, and the other bar can be set at any of a plurality of angles between 0.degree. degrees and 0.degree. degrees with respect to the cutting line. The device is removably mounted on the machine.

  • Patent number: 4614140
Abstract: A safety device for a rocking arm saw includes a blade guard assembly which may be selectively mounted on a handle which rocks the saw blade for crosscutting operations or on a workpiece supporting surface for ripping operations. The blade guard assembly includes a guard housing substantially covering the portion of the blade which extends above the workpiece support surface and is pivotally mounted to the handle for displacing the blade by means of a first mounting arm. The blade guard is mounted on the workpiece support surface by a mounting arm having the opposite ends thereof respectively pivotally connected to the blade guard and a planar, upright support mounted on the supporting surface. The upright support is coplanar with the blade and possess a thickness no greater than that of the blade so as to pass through a cut produced by the blade when a workpiece is moved across the support surface and through the blade.

  • Patent number: 4336733
Abstract: A rocking arm saw is disclosed which may be used in one mode with an operating handle as a pull-through power saw for accurate cross or angle cutting while being readily convertable by removal of the handle to a table saw for ripping or groove cutting. The saw in its free standing form comprises a cutting surface platform and work table top, a subjacent box-like machinery housing, and a base support ventilating structure sized to provide a carrying box for the housing. When used as a pull-through saw, the rocking arm is urged elastically through its forward cutting stroke and biased rearwardly to a blade retracted position. The table top is thus maintained free of blade obstruction since the blade is protectively shielded beneath the cutting surface upon the user releasing the operating handle.
