    Abstract: A system and method for sanitizing an item, such as a grocery store shopping cart or a child stroller, for re-use utilizes a passageway having an entrance and an exit and a source of ozinated water. A pump and an associated piping network are used to direct the water, when in an ozinated condition, from the source toward the item so that the surfaces of the item which are struck by the ozinated water are sanitized thereby. The water can be collected after it has been directed toward the item for subsequent use in the system.
