Abstract: Process for increasing the molecular weight of a polyamide comprising a first step, wherein the polyamide is contacted in countercurrent with a first stream comprising 15 to 100 wt. % H2O and 85 to 0 wt. % N2 at a temperature between 90 and 180° C. and for a time between 5 and 10 hours and a second step, wherein the polyamide obtained in the first step is contacted in countercurrent with a second stream comprising 90 to 100 wt % N2 and 10 to 0 wt % H2O at a temperature between 130 and 200° C. and for a time between 10 and 30 hours.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of a functionalized polymer containing an additive, in which process there is formed a compound that contains, besides at least one blocked isocyanate group, a free amino, hydroxy or carboxy group; this compound is linked to an additive via the free amino, hydroxy or carboxy group in the additive; this additive linked to the compound mentioned is contacted with a polymer that contains at least one free amino or hydroxyl group, at a temperature above the polymer's melting point and at least above 150° C., such that the blocked isocyanate group reacts with the free amino or hydroxy group of the polymer to form the functionalized polymer. The invention also relates to the intermediate products formed in the process and in the preparation thereof. Lastly, the invention relates to functionalized polymers and polymer compositions containing the functionalized polymer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hot-melt adhesive composition for use in a textile product, in particular a tufted carpet, containing a polymer chosen from the group of polyamides, with a number-average molecular mass of 500-5000 g/mol and functional end groups. This hot-melt adhesive composition can be applied in various forms and results in a good bond of pile material to support material. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a textile product, in which the hot-melt adhesive composition is used, and also to the textile product thus obtained and the use thereof as floor or wall covering.
