  • Patent number: 11051210
Abstract: A method of allocating network slices of a network infrastructure includes receiving a network slice request for network resources of the network infrastructure in a form of a network slice. The network slice request includes a service level agreement (SLA) and an associated payoff. It is determined whether to accept the network slice based on whether it is expected that a utility function will be better served by accepting the network slice request or waiting for a further network slice request. It is determined whether the SLA would be fulfilled prior to allocating the network slice. The network slice is allocated and installed in the network infrastructure. Whether the utility function is better served can be determined using a value iteration algorithm or an adaptive algorithm.

  • Patent number: 10321488
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for a communication device to transmit a data packet in a wireless communication system. The method comprises: determining a first set of transmission parameters comprising a first central transmission frequency and a first spectral bandwidth; transmitting a first data packet by applying the first set of transmission parameters; determining whether or not the first data packet collided with a second data packet from a second communication device; determining a second set of transmission parameters, which in case of collision comprises a second central transmission frequency, different from the first central transmission frequency, and a second spectral bandwidth, which is different from the first spectral bandwidth with a first, non-zero probability and the same as the first spectral bandwidth with a second probability; and transmitting a second data packet by applying the second set of transmission parameters.

  • Publication number: 20170347377
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for a communication device to transmit a data packet in a wireless communication system. The method comprises: determining (21) a first set of transmission parameters comprising a first central transmission frequency and a first spectral bandwidth; transmitting (33) a first data packet by applying the first set of transmission parameters; determining (35) whether or not the first data packet collided with a second data packet from a second communication device; determining (37) a second set of transmission parameters, which in case of collision comprises a second central transmission frequency, different from the first central transmission frequency, and a second spectral bandwidth, which is different from the first spectral bandwidth with a first, non-zero probability and the same as the first spectral bandwidth with a second probability; and transmitting (33) a second data packet by applying the second set of transmission parameters.

  • Patent number: 9439104
Abstract: A method for supporting admission control and/or path selection in a communication network, the network including a plurality of wireless communication links, possibly of different link technologies, established between a plurality of network nodes, includes the steps of partitioning the communication links of the network into groups of communication links—link groups—, assigning each link group an associated link group controller that is configured to observe and/or measure the performance and/or quality of the link group, based on the observations and/or measurements, computing estimates of metrics for the capacity of the respective link group and the costs for using each of the communication links of the respective link group, and transmitting the estimates to at least one resource management entity being configured to take admission control and/or path selection decisions on the basis of the estimates.

  • Patent number: 7599296
Abstract: A method of transmitting data from customers (C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, C9, C10) over a computer network, in particular over the Internet, where the data to be sent is split into packets, in particular into IP packets, where each packet is marked by one of at least two states (IN, OUT) and where the states (IN, OUT) determine which packets are dropped first, if packets are dropped during transmission, is, with regard to optimizing the drop rate of the packets, characterized in that the marking of the packet with a state of high drop precedence (OUT) is based on a random probability (p).
