  • Patent number: 5207694
Abstract: A method, a kit and an applicator for performing a surgical occlusion. A tubular applicator open at both ends is introduced with a first end adjacent a free-prepared tissue. At least one bundle-strap type tie is introduced into the applicator. A tie portion protruding from said first end of the applicator is caught in order to position the tie in its proper place around the tissue. Thereafter, the tie is formed into a locked occlusion loop around said tissue. The occlusion technique is applicable to both laparotomy and laparoscopy.

  • Patent number: 5122149
Abstract: The invention relates to a surgical instrument for ligation of internal tissues, such as hemorrhoids, in a cavity of the body by means of an elastic cord. The instrument comprises an inner front-cylinder (1) with the elastic cord (2) strained around its front end and a displaceable outer discharge-cylinder (3) arranged on the front-cylinder (1). At displacement the elastic cord (2) is pushed beyond the front-cylinder (1) and ligates the stem of a tissue (12) inserted in the front-cylinder (1). One of the two cylinders (1;3) is connected to a profiled tube (4) and the other cylinder (3;1) is connected to one end of a relatively stiff strip (5), which constitutes the actuating means (6) for the relative displacement of the cylinders. The strip is preferably formed into an actuating loop and the displacement is attained by pressing the actuating loop (6) towards the tube (4).

  • Patent number: 5009663
Abstract: A method for performing a surgical closure of a skin incision or wound in which at least one surgical suture thread is used for holding together two opposite skin edge portions. A locking device is used for carrying out the method. The suture thread is sewn through each one of the two skin edge portions and through each one of two separate elastic members arranged at the outside of a respective one of the skin edge portions. The elastic members are made of such a material that frictional forces between the elastic members and the suture thread prevent any unintentional displacement between the suture thread and the skin edge portions after the surgical closure has been completed.
