  • Patent number: 4972326
Abstract: Apparatus and a method records a flaw in a fabric web during a flaw inspection. The flaw is recorded by a mark placed on the fabric web along with the X- and Y-values of a system of points defining a boundary line around the flaw. The mark and a side edge of the fabric web, respectively, serve as reference points for these X-and Y-values.

  • Patent number: 4874157
Abstract: In order to improve a method for minimizing material utilization during spreading of a flawed material web, in particular, a fabric web, such that it can be carried out in a manner which always economizes on material or fabric, it is proposed that proceeding from a region determined by the flaw, a set of at least two virtual stop lines be placed in the pattern representation and all flawless pattern pieces cut by the virtual stop lines be determined, that by applying an optimization criterion which takes into consideration the flawless pattern pieces cut by the virtual stop lines and the flawed pattern pieces, one of the virtual stop lines be selected and the stop line be arranged at it, that a maximum distance from the stop line be determined which maximum distance corresponds to the furthest distance of a start of one of the flawless pattern pieces cut by the stop line or of one of the flawed pattern pieces from the stop line, and that the restart line be placed in the direction opposite to the spreading di

  • Patent number: 4575065
Abstract: A web laying machine has a laying carriage driven back-and-forth over the laying table in a web laying direction. The laying carriage includes a chassis, an upper part mounted on the chassis and movable transversely to the laying direction relative to the chassis and rotatable about a vertical axis. A sled, carrying a support mechanism for a web supply reel is arranged on the upper part, and has a first position and a second position spaced from the first position in a direction parallel to the laying direction. The sled is movable from the one to the other position by rotating the upper part through an angle of 180.degree. or by linearly displacing the sled relative to the upper part.

  • Patent number: 4505466
Abstract: A cloth-laying machine comprising a laying carriage adapted for reciprocating movement over a cloth-laying surface. A supply of a cloth web on a roll is supported on the laying carriage, and a driving member is provided to entrain a free end of the cloth hanging from the roll, regardless of which side of the roll the cloth may be hanging from. The driving member entrains the end of the cloth web and guides it into a gap between a deflecting roller and an unwinding roller, the latter roller being provided to lay the cloth over a cloth-laying surface.

  • Patent number: 4493460
Abstract: Material, such as fabric, is unwound from a bolt (7) in a magazine (6) and deposited on a table (1). The magazine (6) comprises a chain (8) having suspension elements (11, FIG. 2) for receiving spindles (10) of the bolts (7). The required bolt (7) is locked in an unwinding position and held firmly, but rotatably, by supporting means (14) and retaining means (18), all in the form of ball bearings. The bolt (7) is rotated by a drive element in the form of a friction wheel or a conveyor belt which drivingly engages either the periphery of the bolt (7) or the spindle (10). In FIG. 2, the drive element comprises a friction wheel (24) which is biased by a spring (25) into driving engagement with a further friction wheel (19) mounted on the spindle (10).The apparatus enables the web to be deposited on the table free of tension.

  • Patent number: 4407439
Abstract: In order to deposit a web (13) onto a conveyer (2) of a table (1) with one edge aligned with a datum position, a carrier (9) is provided which is rotatable with respect to the table (1) and has an auxiliary conveyer (10). Rotation of the carrier (9) takes place in response to deviation of the actual position of the edge from the datum position, which is detected at the point of deposit of the web (13) onto the conveyer (2) by a suitable position detecting sensor (21). For rotating the carrier (9), a motor (20), whose direction of rotation and angle of rotation can be controlled, is used. The apparatus can be used, in particular, for depositing webs of fabric removed from bolts (4) onto a laying table for cutting purposes.
