  • Patent number: 8140555
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for defining inductive relationships between content objects in a content management system. The system includes a content engine server that stores at least two content objects having a set of attributes. An attribute selection module selects an attribute of the content objects for identification of an inductive relationship. A comparison module compares the attribute value of the attribute selected of a first content object with the attribute value of a second content object. An inductive relationship module dynamically defines an explicit relationship between the first content object and the second content object in response to the first attribute value and the second attribute value satisfying a match criteria. The explicit relationship is preserved in an inductive relationship database. User-defined content management rules may then be applied to the inductively related content objects such as records management, retention, or launching business processes.

  • Patent number: 7831563
Abstract: A data storage management system comprises a workflow engine, a lifecycle module, and a storage application. The workflow engine is configured to manage a plurality of defined business processes and to execute at least one process step associated with at least one data item. The lifecycle module is configured to detect a change in lifecycle of the at least one data item. The storage application is configured to perform at least one storage action on the data item as a result of the data item reaching a step in a business process, the data item having a change in lifecycle, the data item having a change in metadata, or an event occurring to the data item. Application layer information about data derived from operation of the system allows the system to make more accurate determinations of business value of data and to determine appropriate storage actions to perform on data.

  • Publication number: 20040225730
Abstract: A system for managing electronic content on a computer network comprises an electronic content library. The electronic content library is configured to store a plurality of files, and to maintain revision history data for the files stored therein. The system further comprises a web content manager configured to publish one or more of the files stored in the electronic content library on a webpage. The system further comprises a content manager. The content manager is configured to check-out a selected file from the electronic content library upon a user's request, and to check-in an updated version of the selected file to the electronic content library. Checking-in the updated version of the selected file causes the revision history data in the electronic content library to be updated. The system further comprises an event trigger subsystem configured to notify the web content manager of the updated version of the selected file based on the revision history data.

  • Publication number: 20040216084
Abstract: Systems and methods provide one or more automated tools for controlling web site deployment and governing content update. Such tools ensure a consistent look-and-feel for a deployed web site, accurate content, and web site referential integrity. A web content engine advantageously manages a wide variety of web site components which are building blocks of a web site. The web content engine also manages information about relationships among the various components. In addition, the web content engine may also associate one or more workflow processes with individual components and with groups of components. A workflow process may automatically be executed when associated web content is created, modified, deleted, or the like. The web content engine may also include a deployment service that ensures that newly created or modified components are deployed in a manner that maintains the consistency or referential integrity of a web site.

  • Publication number: 20030217117
Abstract: A web management system including a database having a directory structure associating each web page of a web site with attributes thereof. The web site management system may include a web server for displaying each web page, and a server-side front end daemon communicatable with the web server and the database. The front end daemon may identify the attributes of any user-changed web page and store the attributes of any user-changed web page in that database. The identifying and/or the storing may be automatic or user-initiated. In addition to, or in the alternative, the web management system may include a file system caching all web pages in a web site. The web pages so cached may be static. The web management system may include a server-side back end daemon communicatable with the database and the file system. The back end daemon may parse the attributes to generate the at least partially static web pages and store the generated, at least partially static web pages in the file system.
