  • Publication number: 20240001693
Abstract: A printing apparatus is disclosed herein. The apparatus comprises a platform defining a printing zone to hold a media moveable along a media path direction; a first sensor at a first location along the media path direction to measure a media advance at the first location; a second sensor located at a second location along the media path direction downstream the first location, the second sensor to measure the media advance at the second location; and a controller. The controller to determine a deformation gradient of the media based on a first set of measurements of the media advance by the sensors at the first and second locations and adjust an image to be printed based on the deformation gradient.

  • Publication number: 20230017952
Abstract: Examples relate to a drying cylinder for an image forming apparatus. The drying cylinder comprises a curved wall and a plurality of gas outlets spaced apart over the curved wall. The drying cylinder is to continuously rotate about its longitudinal axis and provide gas through the plurality of gas outlets perpendicularly onto a print medium with printing fluid deposited thereon to dry the printing fluid.

  • Publication number: 20220371343
Abstract: A print substrate transport system comprises a print substrate supply mechanism and a tensioner. The print substrate supply mechanism is configured to advance print substrate to a printing zone in a discontinuous motion. The tensioner is provided downstream of the print printing zone and is configured to guide a path of the print substrate from the printing zone to a post-processing zone, to control tension in the print substrate in the post-processing zone, and to convert the discontinuous motion of the substrate to continuous motion. A print substrate transport method comprises supplying a print substrate to a printing zone in a discontinuous motion, controlling a tension of the print substrate on a path downstream of the printing zone and converting the motion of the substrate from the discontinuous motion to a continuous motion.

  • Publication number: 20220281244
Abstract: A system is disclosed. The system comprises a roller with a spindle to wind and/or unwind a roll of media, a media advancement sensor to measure the advancement of the media, and a controller. The controller is to control the spindle to rotate an angular displacement, and to determine a calculated media advancement based on the angular displacement and a radius of the roll of media. The controller is also to receive from the media advancement sensor a measured media advancement. The controller is further to detect that a displacement difference between the measured media advancement and the determined media advancement exceeds a predetermined threshold. If the displacement difference exceeds the predetermined threshold a slippage condition is detected.

  • Patent number: 10577208
Abstract: An apparatus (100) for a large format printer (400) to support a spindle (102) of a roll of media comprises at least one supporting member (104, 104a, 104b, 104c) to support the weight of the spindle (102) when the spindle is loaded into the apparatus (100). The apparatus also comprises a cradle (108) to support the spindle (102) as it is loaded onto or unloaded from the at least one supporting member (104). The cradle (108) is moveable between a first position to receive the spindle (102) and a second position when the spindle is supported by the at least one supporting member (104). The apparatus also comprises a shock absorbing member (110) in contact with the cradle (108). The cradle moves between the first and second positions as the spindle (102) is loaded into the apparatus (100) and the shock absorbing member (110) absorbs kinetic energy of the cradle (108) as it moves from the first position to the second position.
