  • Publication number: 20020124558
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing hot working gases for a gas turbine system. In a burner, combustion that generates hot combustion waste gas takes place. A portion ofthe combustion waste gas branches off and feeds into an oxygen separation device. A heat exchanger produces a heated oxygen-containing gas from oxygen-containing gas. The heated oxygen-containing gas feeds to the oxygen separation device. The oxygen separation device includes an oxygen separation means that removes oxygen from the heated oxygen-containing gas and feeds it to the branched-off waste gas. Oxygen-reduced hot gas then leaves the oxygen separation device. Oxygen-enriched branched-off waste gas as well as fuel feed to the burner and form a combustion mixture that bums in the burner while forming the hot combustion waste gases. In order to improve the efficiency of the device, the oxygen-enriched branched-off waste gas heats the oxygen-containing gas.

  • Publication number: 20020106599
Abstract: Described is a premix burner arrangement with catalytic combustion for operating a combustion chamber of a gas turbine arrangement, as well as a method to this effect, having a premix burner, wherein at least one fuel addition unit as well as inlet air openings have been provided in such a way that gaseous and/or liquid fuel can be mixed with combustion inlet air inside the premix burner and form a fuel/air mixture, which exits from the premix burner downstream in the direction towards the combustion chamber positioned after the premix burner arrangement and which can be ignited inside the combustion chamber.

  • Publication number: 20020043064
Abstract: A power plant and a method for operating a power plant with a CO2 process is shown. The power plant includes a compressor, a turbine, a generator, a recuperator, and a burner unit with an oxygen separation device and a burner. Oxygen-containing gas, CO2 medium from the CO2 process, and fuel are supplied to the burner unit. The oxygen separation device removes oxygen from the oxygen-containing gas and adds it to the CO2 medium. To improve the efficiency of the burner unit, the burner unit is provided with an additional burner. A portion of the oxygen-enriched CO2 medium as well as fuel is fed to the additional burner. Hot CO2 medium formed by the combustion in the additional burner is mixed with the heated CO2 medium at the input of the oxygen separation device.

  • Publication number: 20010051119
Abstract: A structured packing (which may or may not include a catalyst) formed from a mesh material having pore openings of less than 50 microns wherein the packing is provided with turbulence generators to promote flow of fluid through the pore openings and may be further provided with additional openings larger than the pores to improve bulk mixing.

  • Publication number: 20010038811
Abstract: A low pressure drop, highly efficient structured packing comprises sheet material formed into vertical preferably square channels containing vortex generators formed from the sheet material. The channels, while vertically linear, are periodically interrupted by the vortex generators providing tortuous fluid paths along the channels. The thus formed vortex generators form openings between adjacent channels providing fluid communication between and uniform flow within the different channels. The packing can be utilized in fluid mixing or those operations that require multiphase mass transfer, such as absorption or distillation. The addition of a catalyst makes the structure suitable for catalytic distillation. Turbulence is provided the fluids by the tortuous vertical path with low pressure drops transversely and vertically, with optimum liquid holdup.
