  • Patent number: 4543999
Abstract: A sequential cleaning device for a loom ensures sequential cleaning by blowing compressed air or possibly by suction, at various points of a loom. The device comprises, upstream of a utilization circuit leading to various points to be cleaned, a pneumatic control circuit connected to a compressed air inlet. The circuit comprises, in a main pneumatic line a first distributor which is normally closed, and controlled mechanically and a second distributor which is normally open and controlled pneumatically. Controlling the opening of the first distributor may be effected by a rotary member forming a cam of the loom. Controlling the closure of the second distributor is ensured by a branch supply line in which pneumatic delay means are incorporated.

  • Patent number: 4512375
Abstract: A distributing unit synchronized with the shed-forming operation of a jet loom is positively coupled with a rocker arm carrying two insertion nozzles which are respectively aligned with the shed during alternate operating cycles, this unit temporarliy admitting high-pressure air to the currently aligned nozzle and to an associated thread clamp for the release of a weft yarn engaged thereby. The distributing unit comprises two interconnected outer disks bracketing an inner disk on a fixed axle on which the outer disks are held substantially immovable by a friction brake; the inner disk is limitedly rotatable by a cam-operated lever swingable about that axle and, in each of two working positions, connects two inlets for high-pressure air on one outer disk to respective outlets on the other outer disk leading to the currently aligned nozzle and to the associated thread clamp.

  • Patent number: 4510976
Abstract: A flow distributor for a fluid circuit is especially applicable for use in a shuttleless loom with pneumatic insertion of the weft and comprises a body of revolution, produced from two parts assembled coaxially and forming therebetween an annular inner chamber defined by a conical wall and by a frusto-conical wall. The annular chamber connects a tubular mouthpiece for the inlet of fluid disposed on the central axis body with a plurality of outlet holes provided concentrically and at regular angular intervals around the central axis and able to receive screw-threaded couplings. This flow distributor is especially used for supplying compressed air to groups of relay nozzles on a shuttleless loom.

  • Patent number: 4498639
Abstract: A weft predelivery and measuring device for a shuttleless loom and particularly for such a loom with a lateral weft reserve and weft insertion by means of a pneumatic or hydraulic fluid has a tubular member integral with a rotary shaft through which an axial channel passes, facilitating the passage of the weft yarn into a tubular member for winding around a drum of adjustable peripheral dimensions. This drum is prevented from rotating by means of permanent magnets. In order to retain a predetermined number of turns of weft yarn around the drum and in order to release these turns periodically, a wheel is provided which on its periphery has equi-angularly spaced claws and which is supported by a spindle continuously rotatable by a worm and a worm gear driven from the rotary shaft.

  • Patent number: 4494579
Abstract: A thread clamp, designed for periodically retaining a weft yarn in a loom of the shuttleless type, comprises a housing with a stationary insert having front and rear recesses spanned by respective membranes defining therewith two chambers of variable volume, the membranes being interconnected by a stem passing with clearance through a passage in the insert. One end of the stem, projecting beyond the front membrane, carries a movable jaw normally held against a confronting fixed jaw by a biasing spring disposed in the front compartment. The rear chamber, whose membrane is of larger effective diameter than that of the front chamber, can be expanded by the admission of air under pressure through one or more passages in the insert, the difference in membrane area being sufficient to let the resulting pressure differential in the two chambers overcome the force of the biasing spring to separate the movable jaw from the fixed jaw.

  • Patent number: 4479519
Abstract: A weft brake for a loom, especially for one of the shuttleless type, comprises a stationary blade and a movable blade cantilevered in overlapping positions on respective posts rising from a supporting plate, the free end of the movable blade being spring-biased toward the stationary blade for clamping a weft thread therebetween but being periodically deflected away therefrom for releasing the weft thread to facilitate its transportation through the shed of the associated warp threads. The weft thread passes between the stationary blade and a leaf spring forming an intermediate blade, inserted between the two other blades of the brake and cantilevered on the same post as the movable blade, so as to be frictionally restrained by the elasticity of that intermediate blade in the unclamping position of the movable blade.

  • Patent number: 4448223
Abstract: The weft insertion nozzle is mounted on an extension of the sley sole, and the nozzle is pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the sley sole. The nozzle is connected to a fixed point of the loom by means of a retractable connecting-rod. Due to the action of this connecting-rod, the nozzle is in a position parallel to the sley sole during insertion of a pick of weft into the shed, but forms an angle with sley sole in the beating-up position of the sley, at which the weft is cut by scissors. A pneumatic jack supported by the sley sole can also cause the weft insertion nozzle to pivot by retracting the connecting-rod, in order to deflect the weft by directing the weft from the nozzle into a suction mouthpiece so as to prevent insertion of a pick into the shed when a fault is detected causing the stoppage of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4437352
Abstract: A apparatus for measuring tension in a strand such as a belt is provided with an elongated housing having a pair of opposite longitudinal ends and respective structures at the ends having structure edges facing transversely in the same direction and generally defining a plane. A two-arm lever is pivoted on the housing between the ends thereof and has an abutment arm extending transversely between the plates and a measuring arm extending generally longitudinally of the housing and having an arm edge lying between the structure edges and facing transversely opposite to the structure edges. A pivot supports the lever on the housing for angular motion about an axis transverse to the housing between two end positions with the arm edge lying on opposite sides of the plane. A spring is braced between the abutment arm and one of the housing ends for urging the lever into the end portion with the arm edge between the plane and the housing.

  • Patent number: 4290460
Abstract: In a shuttle-less loom in which a pick of weft is inserted into the shed of warp yarns by a jet of compressed air from an insertion nozzle to one side of the shed, a plurality of spaced auxiliary nozzles are provided along the weft path through the shed. Each auxiliary nozzle has a horizontal slot directly below the weft path, and a vertical slot at one or both ends of the horizontal slot adjacent the respective lower end of the vertical slot. The slots face in the direction in which the weft travels and are supplied with compressed air to provide a lower substantially horizontal flat jet of air from the horizontal slot and one or two lateral jets from the respective vertical slot, so that the air jets serve to guide, support and augment the propulsion of the weft.

  • Patent number: 4256147
Abstract: A weaving loom is equipped with a system for controlling oscillation of a warp yarn support roller in which a first rotary cam actuates an oscillating first lever connected to a first arm integral with a first shaft on which the roller is mounted. The first shaft rests, through the intermediary of raising members, in bearings supported by second levers pivoting about a fixed pivot and connected, through the intermediary of pivoted connecting rods, to the third and fourth levers which are keyed to a second shaft and subject to urging by at least one spring. The system includes a fifth lever keyed to the second shaft and a second rotary cam actuating an oscillating sixth lever pivotably connected to a second arm which is alongside the fifth lever and is freely mounted on the second shaft. A fixed first hook is mounted on the second arm and a pivotable second hook is mounted on the fifth lever. An electromagnet holds the second hook clear of the first hook except when the loom is being started.
