  • Patent number: 4155166
Abstract: The combination of a dipstick and plug assembly adapted to be inserted within a standard oil filler tube of an engine. In a preferred embodiment, the assembly includes a molded cap element having an integrally formed handle for facilitating gripping thereof. Positioned underneath the cap element is a preferably separately formed, molded cylindrical body which is adapted to be fitted within the oil filler tube. The dipstick comprises a blade member which extends through an aperture in the cylindrical body and is embedded within the cap element. The cylindrical body has a pair of O-rings extending peripherally thereabout. The upper O-ring is integrally molded with the body and serves as a sealing means for the tube. The lower O-ring comprises a separately formed, flexible O-ring which is disposed within a groove formed in the cylindrical body and is adapted to facilitate the insertion and withdrawal of the assembly in the filler tube.

  • Patent number: 4060706
Abstract: A technique for forming and mounting a handle which includes the steps of providing a channel-shaped body of metal with opposed flat lugs at its midportion, inserting a metal rod perpendicularly into the channel-shaped body in tangential surface contact with the inside surfaces of the lugs and in abutment with the inside wall surface or web of the body, mounting these interengaging parts horizontally in a holding jig provided adjacent the stationary lower electrode of an electric welder with the bottom lug engaged on the electrode, and lowering the other welding electrode into contact with the upper lug, so as to weld the lugs to the opposite sides of the rod at the tangential contact surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3950971
Abstract: A lockable closure plug consisting of a top-flanged cylindrical resilient compressible body with a top plate covering the top of the body and a flat bottom plate engaging the bottom of the body, and an axial operating stem rotatably engaging centrally through the body and abutting on the top plate and threadedly engaged through a nut secured centrally to the bottom plate. A rod-like handle bar is secured perpendicularly through the top end of the stem and a pair of link bars are pivoted to opposite sides of an upstanding U-shaped bracket on the top plate. The link bars in raised positions can lockingly receive the handle bar therebetween, and said link bars are apertured to receive the hasp of a padlock, which can hold the link bars in raised locking positions.
