    Abstract: A gun safety device is detachably mounted on a gun barrel for capturing a projectile, wherein when mounted, at least a portion of the projectile capturing device breaks free of the gun, capturing a projectile fired therefrom. Optionally, the gun safety device can include a housing detachably mounted on the gun barrel and lockably attachable to the housing. The invention also includes a method for capturing a projectile from a gun.
