Abstract: The combination of a conventional emulsifier package for soluble oils and a synergistic combination of (a) an oxazoline derivative and an amide and (b) an ether sulfate ammonium salt surfactant. The oxazoline drivative and amide contain straight or branched chain alcohol and fatty acid substituents. The ether sulfate ammonium salt surfactant contains a mixture of alkyl groups. The combination is incorporated with a base oil to produce soluble oil concentrate.

Abstract: A static storage stable fire resistant hydraulic fluid composition is provided which comprises(a) from about 40 to about 50 volume percent water together with(b) from about 50 to about 60 volume percent of a combination of(1) a lubricating oil(2) an emulsifier system containing succinic esters of hydrocarbon substituted succinic acid, polyhydric alcohols and alkaline earth salts of a fatty acid, and(3) at least one material selected from the group consisting of polyoxyethylene derivatives of alcohols and acids.Most preferred materials are the ether derivatives of polyoxyethylene containing from 10 to 20 oxyethylene units formed from 10 to 20 saturated carbon atom normal alcohols. The most preferred material is the ether derivative of a polyoxyethylene containing 10 oxyethylene units formed from stearyl alcohol.

Abstract: A method for preventing polymer buildup in the polymerization reactor during the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer to form polyvinyl chloride polymer and copolymers, the method comprising coating reactor surfaces in contact with the reaction medium with a material selected from the group consisting of alumina, dithiooxamide, and mixtures of these prior to carrying out this polymerization.

Abstract: A soluble oil concentrate for forming stable emulsions of a minor part of concentrate and a major part of water. The concentrate comprises a combination of paraffinic and naphthenic base oils with an emulsifier package including a mahogany sulfonate, alkali metal hydroxide, alkylol amine, alkylene glycol, and carboxylic acids including fatty, rosin, and naphthenic acids.
