Publication number: 20240152467Abstract: For a given application, increasing the size of a cache is beneficial up to a certain point and the number of hits does not increase significantly with a greater cache size. This disclosure provides a method to determine a miss ratio curve, for a cache having data blocks with a time-to-live. A hashed value of a data block's key address can be used to generate a 2D HLL counter for storing expiry times of the data blocks. The 2D HLL counter can be converted to a 1D array, from which a stack distance can be calculated. A frequency distribution of stack distances can then be converted into a miss ratio curve, from which an appropriate cache size can be selected.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2022Publication date: May 9, 2024Applicants: HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CANADA CO., LTD., The Governing Council of the University of TorontoInventors: Sari SULTAN, Kia SHAKIBA, Albert LEE, Michael STUMM, Ming CHEN, Chung-Man Abelard CHOW

Patent number: 10769223Abstract: Systems and methods are described for the identification and classification of a social media posting. In various aspects, image-based data and text-based data may be collected from one or more social media data sources associated with a social media posting. Event related data may then be extracted from each of the image-based data and the text-based data, in which the event related data is indicative of one or more life events associated with a social media user who posted the social media posting. One or more life event classifications may be determined from the event related data and an activity, such as sending a message or article to the social media user, may be triggered as a result.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2017Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Sumit Patel, Dajun Xu, Albert Man, Bradley A. Publication number: 20070092888Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the diagnosis and evaluation of cardiovascular illness, particularly hypertension treatment. In particular, patient test samples are analyzed for the presence and amount of members of a panel of markers comprising one or more specific markers for hypertension treatment and one or more non-specific markers for hypertension treatment. A variety of markers are disclosed for assembling a panel of markers for such diagnosis and evaluation. Algorithms for determining proper treatment are disclosed. A diagnostic kit for a panel of said markers is disclosed. In various aspects, the invention provides methods for the early detection and differentiation of hypertension treatment. Invention methods provide rapid, sensitive and specific assays that can greatly increase the number of patients that can receive beneficial treatment and therapy, reduce the costs associated with incorrect diagnosis, and provide important information about the prognosis of the patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2006Publication date: April 26, 2007Inventors: Cornelius Diamond, Albert Man, Troy Bremer

Patent number: 6961885Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for testing a device. A test fixture is provided for interfacing a device with a host system for generating tests to be run on the device. The device is placed in a scan-test mode, according to a built-in self-test of the device. A scan clock signal and scan pattern are provided to allow scan-tests to be run on the device. If the device passes the scan test, the device is placed in a real-time test mode. At-speed tests may then be run on the device to provide a robust test and identify portions of the device that may be faulty.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2001Date of Patent: November 1, 2005Assignee: ATI Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Albert Man, Raymond P C Wong

Patent number: 6880116Abstract: A system and method for testing multiple components using a single host system is shown and described. A host system with a single advanced graphics port (AGP) is used to generate commands of a test routine to test a particular type of AGP processing component. A test fixture interfaces to the AGP port of the host system and provides the commands to each of a plurality of test components. The test components process the commands concurrently, generating results. The test fixture receives each of the results in turn and provides the results to the host system, allowing the host system to determine if the test components are functioning within particular parameters. The test fixture provides an interface to allow several test components to be tested as AGP master devices, over a single AGP port on the host system.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2001Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Assignee: ATI Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Albert Man, Roy Schoonover

Patent number: 6038520Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing specific assembled circuits begins by configuring a plurality of applications specific testing entities to test assembled circuits, where the configuring is based on the types of assembled circuits being tested. Next, a specific assembled circuit testing program is provided to the corresponding application specific testing entity based on the type of assembled circuits it is testing. In addition to providing the testing programs to the testing entities, programming instructions are provided to a programmable handler to pick and place the appropriate assembled circuits with the corresponding applications specific testing entities. When the testing of a particular assembled circuit is complete, a test complete indication is provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1998Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: ATI Technologies, IncInventors: Roy Schoonover, Albert Man, Sam Ho, Lee Lau

Patent number: 5920340Abstract: A method and apparatus for self-testing of a multimedia subsystem is accomplished by retrieving a pattern from a first section of memory, where the retrieving is done by a video graphics circuit. Having retrieved the pattern, the video graphics circuit provides it to a video capture circuit via a television encoder. Upon receiving the pattern, the video capture board generates a capture pattern therefrom. The capture pattern is then provided by the video capture circuit to memory via the video graphics circuit. Once the video capture pattern is stored in memory, the capture pattern is compared with the original pattern. When the comparison is favorable, the video capture circuit, the television tuner, and the interconnecting paths have passed testing.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1997Date of Patent: July 6, 1999Assignee: ATI International, SRLInventors: Albert Man, Gerald L.
