    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of making compounds comprising linked cyclopentadienyl and fluorenyl groups, including substituted analogs thereof, which are precursors to ansa-metallocenes comprising bridged cyclopentadienyl and fluorenyl ligands. In one aspect, this invention provides a preparative method for (5-cyclopentadienyl)[5-(2,7-di-tert-butylfluorenyl)]hex-1-ene, and ansa-metallocenes comprising this ligand.
