  • Patent number: 7117079
Abstract: An apparatus performs simultaneous data monitoring, logging, and controlling of the state of a system. The apparatus includes at least one system sensor that provides a sensor data signal corresponding to a system characteristic of which the sensor is detecting, a memory that stores data and program instructions, at least one output port that provides an output signal to the system, and a microprocessor that receives the sensor data signal and executes the program instructions to monitor and log data corresponding to the data signal received from the system sensor and to provide system control data to the output port.

  • Publication number: 20040226287
Abstract: A regeneration system is provided that comprises of one or more diesel particulate filters (DPFs), tubing to connect the DPF to the engine, means to regenerate the DPF in place while the engine is not operating, and a control system to start, operate and stop the regeneration means. In one embodiment, the system is designed with a control system that automatically invokes a regeneration sequence after every start. The regeneration sequence may be initiated after every engine start and stop event, and as such ensures that every time the engine is started the filter will be free of soot. The system optionally starts the regeneration immediately after the engine stops, to take advantage of an already preheated filter, and subsequently the reduce the required electrical input. The system optionally includes a bypass valve which directs the exhaust flow through path alternative to the DPF when the DPF pressure drop becomes excessive.

Abstract: An apparatus performs simultaneous data monitoring, logging, and controlling of the state of a system. The apparatus includes at least one system sensor that provides a sensor data signal corresponding to a system characteristic of which the sensor is detecting, a memory that stores data and program instructions, at least one output port that provides an output signal to the system, a timing source that provides clock timing signals, and a microprocessor that receives the sensor data signal and executes the program instructions to monitor and log data corresponding to the data signal received from the system sensor and to provide system control data to the output port, in accordance with the clock timing signals. The system sensor and other components can be easily fitted to the system. The apparatus memory permits programming that can be adjusted to complement the system to which the apparatus is fitted. The apparatus can efficiently record the system data that is collected by the sensor.
