  • Patent number: 5350424
Abstract: A dyestuff composition for gradually dyeing hair by atmospheric oxidation wherein the dyestuff composition contains a dye component which becomes entrapped in hair fibers when the dyestuff composition is removed from the hair and which results in the gradual development of color in the hair due to atmospheric oxidation of the entrapped dye component. Also provided is a process of employing the dyestuff composition of this invention to gradually dye hair, the dyestuff composition being removed from the hair approximately 5 minutes after its application.

  • Patent number: 4832947
Abstract: A permanent waving process is disclosed in which an essential oil is incorporated into hair fibers. The incorporated of the essential oil into the hair fiber not only provides capacity to remove bad odors resulting from freshly permanent waved hair but also gives to the hair a supple and smooth feeling. The essential oil is incorporated in the oxidizing or neutralizing solution of the permanent waving process. The essential oils employed are those containing at least one component, ingredient or constituent having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, i.e.

  • Patent number: 4767617
Abstract: An opacifier composition for use in permanent waving compositions and neutralizer compositions associated therewith. The opacifier composition is an aqueous emulsion containing: (a) methyl ester of hydrogenated rosin acids, (b) an alkylene glycol such as octylene glycol, and (c) a mixture of nonionic surfactants, such as the polyoxyethylene ethers of fatty alcohols, for example lauryl alcohol. The use of the opacifier composition eliminates or minimizes hair breakage which occurs with other opacifier systems such as those employing latex emulsions.

  • Patent number: 4104021
Abstract: Human air is dyed in successive treatments at selected intervals with oxidation colors (aromatic primary amines and aminophenols) admixed in each treatment with an oxidizing agent (H.sub.2 O.sub.2 or a derivative thereof) -- the quantity of oxidation colorant applied in each treatment being substantially the same and the quantity of oxidizing agent being increased from the first to the last treatment to effect a gradual increase in depth of shade -- the mixture being allowed to remain on the hair for substantially the same tine in each treatment, followed by removal by rinsing.

  • Patent number: 4097589
Abstract: A liquid nail polish which imparts improved flexural strength to the human nail and inhibits splitting when applied thereto as a coating. The nail polish formulation is characterized by the inclusion therein, as a dissolved component, of a small but effective amount of a terpolymer comprising a copolyamide consisting essentially of recurring units of equimolecular proportions of caprolactam, laurolactam and hexamethylene diamine adipate. Typically, said terpolymer is first dissolved in a mixture of trichloroethane and ethyl alcohol, and this liquid solution is added in a small quantity to a stock liquid nail polish formulation so that a final formulation containing a small but effective amount of said dissolved terpolymer is produced, e.g. a formulation containing in the range of about 0.001 to 0.1% by weight of said dissolved terpolymer.
