  • Patent number: 5901582
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool, such as a latch needle, has, on its shank, a lubricant distributing arrangement formed on at least one of the opposite broad shank faces for collecting a lubricant therein during operation of the knitting tool. The lubricant distributing arrangement is constituted by a region of reduced shank thickness extending transversely to the shank length from a distance from the upper shank edge at least substantially to the lower shank edge. The region of reduced shank thickness may be a chamfer, a recess or a depression.

  • Patent number: 5582038
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool includes a shank and a window which is provided in the shank and which is bounded by a surrounding window-framing edge of the shank. Along at least a length portion of the window-framing edge a chamfer is provided which borders the window. A heterogenous material fills the window and is fixedly connected with the shank. The chamfer projects into the heterogenous material.

  • Patent number: 5186026
Abstract: A compound needle has a needle member and a two-part closing element. The needle member has a head at a front end of the needle. The closing element is mounted on the needle member so as to be longitudinally displaceable with respect to the needle member and cooperate with the head. A first part of the closing element includes a shank, a beard on the shank and an anchoring butt formed on an end region of the shank remote from the beard. A second part of the closing member follows the first part in the longitudinal direction and has a control butt and a brake spring. The second part also has a housing section which receives at least the end region of the shank. The first and second parts are undetachably and rigidly connected together in a region of the anchoring butt.

  • Patent number: 5076074
Abstract: A knitting tool, such as a selector sinker or a needle for a knitting machine, includes a flat shank and a narrow elongate control spring projecting from a slot-like opening in a narrow side of the shank. One end of the control spring has a broader anchorage section at one end which is inserted into a recess provided at an inward end of the opening in the shank. The width of the recess, measured transversely to the longitudinal extent of the opening, is greater, at least at certain locations, than the width of the opening. The thickness of the anchorage section of the control spring is less than or equal to the depth of the recess. As a result, the control spring is rigidly anchored in the shank in a manner secure against rotation.
