  • Patent number: 8619778
Abstract: There is described a method for automatic address allocation to at least one communication partner encompassed by a network, whereby a primary communication partner likewise encompassed by the network transfers a data item to the, or one of the, communication partner(s) and whereby the communication partner in question performs a comparison of the data item with a reference data item. Depending on the result of the comparison, either an address is assigned to the communication partner in question or the data item is transferred to a communication partner downstream of the communication partner in question in the network and the data item is modified in conjunction with the transfer of the data item to the downstream communication partner. There is also described a communication partner as well as an automation system for executing the method as well as an automation system with such a communication partner.

  • Patent number: 8060672
Abstract: There is described a method, a bus protocol, a peripheral module, a processing unit, a hub and also to a system consisting of said components, for event signaling between at least one peripheral module and a processing unit by means of a system bus. In this case the data to be transmitted data is encoded into a larger symbol space, from which a standard idle symbol is used in telegram pauses for synchronizing a connection between transmitter and receiver. A message present at the peripheral modules is enabled to be signaled to the processing unit independently of the telegram traffic initiated by the processing unit.

  • Patent number: 8015324
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for data transmission in a serial bus system comprising a control unit and bus users. The method comprises steps: receiving a first data telegram by a bus user from the control unit, wherein the data telegram has a data field containing output data; reading out the data field intended for the bus user from the first data telegram; preparing input data as a response to the read out data field; checking whether a predefined criterion is met, wherein if the criterion is met a second data telegram is newly generated and the input data is attached to the second data telegram and if the criterion is not met, the input data is attached to a data telegram previously received from another bus user; and transmitting the input data to the control unit by the second data telegram.

  • Patent number: 7843966
Abstract: There is described a module for expanding a central module of an automation system, the data transfer between module and central module being accomplished by means of a serial communication system having point-to-point connections in a daisychain or backplane layout and the module having, in a physical layer herefor, at least two transmitters and at least two receivers. There is also described a communication system having at least one module of said kind and a central module. A module for a communication system within an automation system is specified, which module can be flexibly and easily adapted to the respective field of application. There is further described a flexible and scalable communication system for the data transfer between a central module/a CPU and at least one module with the aim of realizing a modular expansion of the central module/CPU.

  • Patent number: 7583690
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for simplified allocation of station addresses to communication users in a bus system, and communication users in a bus system. A first communication user, which can automatically transmit to the bus, can allocate data to a station address, said data clearly identifying another communication user, or characterizing a station address as non-occupied. An additional communication user who has already sent a data packet with clearly identifying data to the first communication user in an earlier communication cycle by means of said communication user and who receives a data packet comprising data in a later communication cycle, whereby said data does not clearly identify said communication user, can automatically alter the station address thereof in a station address characterized as not being occupied.

  • Publication number: 20030099229
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical device (LNK) which has means (DP-S, K′) for forming a communication connection to a field bus (DP) and additional means (PA-M, FF-M, K) for forming a communication connection to an additional field bus (PAFF). Said device is thus presented as a combination of three communication stations (DP-S, PA-M, FF-M) for the respective connection to a field bus (DP, PA, FF).

  • Patent number: 5927218
Abstract: A buffer circuit of a decentralized peripheral module. The buffer circuit has three input and three output signal storage areas, which can be selectively connected to a bus interface or a module interface via a selection circuit. Thus the process signal transfer from an intelligent unit arranged on the module to a unit of a higher level than the module and vice-versa can be completely separated.
