  • Publication number: 20070151572
Abstract: A hair pick comprising an elongated base member made from a material which is both flexible and resilient. A plurality of teeth project from an upper side of the base member. Finger engagement means is provided on the lower side of the base member, approximately midway between the base member's ends. Transversely oriented finger gripping means are provided on each of the base ends, having portions extending above and below the base member. With the base member in an unflexed state, the axes of the teeth are substantially parallel. When the hair pick is gripped, forces may be applied through the combination of the finger engagement means and the finger gripping means to flex the base member causing the teeth to be reoriented either into a converging closed position or a diverging open position.

  • Publication number: 20060090770
Abstract: An improved pick to more effectively grip, lift and comb a shock of hair by virtue of having a plurality of elongated teeth which may be squeezed together to grip, lift and comb the hair, or may be opened apart to more easily enter or release the hair. This hair pick is molded as one piece of integral plastic sufficiently flexible to allow manipulation of the elongated teeth by finger pressure using only one hand, thus freeing the other hand for spraying etc. The elongated teeth may have attached small teeth for parting the the hair and may have attached small notches for engaging and helping to lift the hair.

  • Patent number: 5970615
Abstract: A pair of combined cutting and thinning shears is comprised of a pair of handles, a pair of cutting blades attached to respective front ends of the handles, and a pair of thinning blades attached to respective rear ends of the handles. The cutting blades are pivoted together at a position adjacent the handles. A guide tab on one of the thinning blades mate with the opposite thinning blade to ensure their proper alignment when closed. In a second embodiment, the handles include inside edges that are in constant engagement with each other throughout their entire range of movement to ensure alignment between the thinning blades. Both embodiments can be used to cut or thin hair by simply positioning hair between either the cutting blades or thinning blades.

  • Patent number: 5479765
Abstract: An improved cutter blade assembly for lawn edging machines, the improvement comprising two cutting blades having the central portions of the first and second blades nested flat face against flat face and mounted on a powered drive shaft, the blades extending oppositely and outwardly from the horizontal drive shaft in a plane normal to the axis of the drive shaft. Each of the cutting blades preferably contains a series of progressively spaced, stepped mounting holes, a series of stepped locking holes, and a locking dog to provide an adjusting means for extending the combined length of the two cutting blades to compensate for wear. As the diameter of the cutter blade assembly is shortened from wear, each cutting blade may then be disengaged from the drive shaft and moved radially and oppositely outward and may then be re-engaged onto the drive shaft through the next appropriate mounting hole. Thus, the cutter blade assembly may be restored approximately to its original cutting diameter.

  • Patent number: 4423531
Abstract: A hairbrush has a pair of rigid side members and a flexible bristle plate disposed therebetween. A first face of the bristle plate has bristles extendingly outwardly therefrom. The side members include means for selectively manipulating the brush to flex the first face of the bristle plate into a concave or a convex position.

  • Patent number: 4226251
Abstract: A hairbrush construction having an elongate body with a grip portion thereof for holding and manipulating the brush and employs bristle elements carried by the body to extend away from one side. A tapered end portion is carried at the leading end of the body and serves to readily enter, gradually separate and lift a shock of hair of a person as the end portion passes into the hair. The end portion is tapered as viewed in both elevation and plan to form a substantially pointed end to the entering portion. In one embodiment the end portion is readily releasably coupled to the end of the body and can be disposed in a plurality of positions relative thereto. According to another embodiment the hairbrush includes a bristle unit carried in a receiver portion of the body so as to move between readily projected and retracted positions relative to the body of the brush.

  • Patent number: 3960155
Abstract: A hair styling device includes finger coverings of semi-rigid material carried on adjacent fingers of the hand of a barber in which one of the finger coverings is formed to include a curved lip to lie in substantially parallel relation alongside the convex curvature of the other finger covering. One of the two finger coverings carries means for establishing a predetermined, spaced relation between the two finger coverings as hair is drawn through the gap defined between the two finger coverings.

  • Patent number: 3935870
Abstract: A template device for use in evenly cutting long hair on opposite sides of a substantially vertical centerline is supported from the neck or shoulders and includes on the exposed backside thereof fine radially extending grooves serving to capture the contiguous layer of hair laid thereon, the depth of the grooves sufficient to restrain the strands of the contiguous layer of hair lying thereon from easily moving away from the barber's shears as the tips of the shears are guided along a predetermined pattern of hair length formed on the surface of the back panel of the template.Means in the form of shoulder straps or in the form of a specially configured template member serve to orient to a vertical position a centerline defined on the exposed part of the back panel of the template.
