    Abstract: A head slider for a magnetic disk drive is provided. The head slider includes a leading edge, a trailing edge and a ramp structure for deflecting impact of the slider with a disk defect, the ramp structure comprising a leading end and a trailing end wherein the ramp structure is higher with respect to the air bearing surface at the trailing end than the leading end and wherein the trailing end of the ramp structure is proximate the trailing end of the slider.
