  • Patent number: 7854909
Abstract: A process for treating a finely particulate, in particular metal-containing, charge material: The charge material and a treatment gas, in particular a reduction gas, are introduced into a fluidized bed chamber of a fluidized bed reactor to form a fluidized bed. After at least partial reaction in the fluidized bed, the treatment gas is discharged from the fluidized bed and, outside the fluidized bed, is at least partially reprocessed, preferably oxidized, by an exothermic, chemical reaction with a reactant, preferably with a gaseous and/or liquid oxidizing agent. The thermal energy of this reaction is at least partially introduced into the fluidized bed chamber, in particular into the fluidized bed, or being discharged therefrom to affect the temperature of the particulate material above the bed. Also an apparatus for operating such a fluidized bed includes the chamber, lines into and out of the chamber for gas and material and a cyclone at the chamber for the material.

  • Patent number: 7144447
Abstract: A process and apparatus for reducing material in particle form in a fluidization zone and at elevated temperature, in particular for reducing fine ore, the particle material being held in the fluidization zone by a treatment gas which flows upward from below. Material in fine particle form is discharged from the fluidization zone with the treatment gas and is separated out of the treatment gas in a deposition zone. In the deposition zone, the stream of treatment gas and discharged material in fine particle form are fed into a separating device which removes the fine particle material from the treatment gas, the treatment gas is extracted from the separating device as off-gas, and the separated fine particle material is removed from the separating device. Coarse-grained material is then introduced into the deposition zone. This reduces the levels of caking and deposits of the fine particle material. A device for carrying out the process includes elements defining the zones.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process and to apparatus for treating, preferably for reducing, material in particle form in a fluidization zone and at elevated temperature, in particular for reducing fine ore, the particle material being held in the fluidization zone by a treatment gas which flows upward from below. Material in fine particle form is discharged from the fluidization zone with the treatment gas and is separated out of the treatment gas in a deposition zone. The following steps are carried out in the deposition zone: feeding the stream of treatment gas and discharged material in fine particle form to a separating device, separating the fine particle material from the treatment gas, extracting the treatment gas from the separating device as off-gas, and removing the separated fine particle material from the separating device. Coarse-grained material is introduced into the deposition zone, reducing the levels of caking and deposits of the fine particle material.

  • Patent number: 6156262
Abstract: A melter gasifier (10) for the production of a metal melt and of a reducing gas is provided with feed ducts (17, 16, 9) for oxygen-containing gases, carbon carriers and the metal carriers. From the melter gasifier (10) there departs at least one gas discharge duct (12) for reducing gas generated in the melter gasifier (10). Also, a tap (18) for the metal melt and for slag is provided.
