  • Patent number: 7207259
Abstract: An actuator (100) for actuating an onboard device (200) on a sailboat (300), comprises: a piston (2) slidably mounted within a cylinder (1) and movable between a first operating position, in which the piston is at a first end portion (3a) of the cylinder (1), and a second operating position, in which the piston is at a second end portion (3b) of the cylinder (1); hydraulic means (101, 15) for supplying a pressurised working fluid at the first end portion (3a) of the cylinder (1), this fluid being adapted to cause the piston (2) to move from the first operating position to the second operating position; pneumatic means for supplying (102, 11) a pressurised gas at the second end portion (3b) of the cylinder, this gas being adapted to cause the piston (2) to move from the second operating position to the first operating position.

  • Publication number: 20060081825
Abstract: The invention refers to a motion transmission system from at least one pedestal to at least one winch, for manoeuvring the ropes of sails in sailing boats, comprising speed multiplier means housed in said at least one pedestal. The present invention allows there to be a reduced torque value along the entire kinematic path from said at least one pedestal to said at least one winch. This allows lower quality and smaller sized (thickness) components to be used, with obvious advantages in terms of reduction of the costs and of the total weight on board the sailing boat.

  • Publication number: 20020158240
Abstract: The device has an input shaft intended to be connected to motor members and rotating at an input speed and an output shaft intended to be connected to the winch and rotating at an output speed, the ratio between the output speed and the input speed being equal to a transmission ratio.

  • Publication number: 20020098930
Abstract: A system for the transmission of motion to a winch for sailboats, in particular for racing and/or cruising sailboats, comprises first belt transmission means housed inside a pedestal and second belt transmission means between the pedestal and a winch. The transmission system comprises in particular a drive pulley housed in the pedestal, a driven pulley intended to be coaxially mounted onto the primary rotational shaft of the winch, a single belt between the drive pulley and the driven pulley and a pair of motion deviation pulleys between the drive pulley and the driven pulley. The transmission system thus provide for the use of a single belt and a plurality of pulleys; this allows to remarkably reduce the manufacturing costs of the system and simplify its assembly operations onto the boat.

  • Publication number: 20020096672
Abstract: A winch for sailboats comprises a stator body intended to be integrally mounted on a deck of a sailboat, and a rotor body intended to house a rope for manoeuvring the sailboat. The rotor body is coaxially and turnably fitted onto the stator body along a primary rotation driving shaft. The winch also comprises a secondary motion transmission shaft in meshing engagement with the rotor body and a plurality of gears, between the primary shaft and the secondary shaft, intended to transmit the motion to the rotor body with a predetermined reduction ratio. The gears are housed into a box intended to be arranged below the boat deck. During maintenance operations, to access the gears it is sufficient to remove the gearbox from below deck; in the meantime, the winch can still perform its function of rope deviation.
